The Scarab

Hremelan stands up and shakes his head slowly. The halfling appears shaken as the near-death-experience sinks into his adrenaline rushed brain.

"Tha'...was a close 'un." he says in mock humor.

Ashan lowers his bow and swings back onto the deck. Grinning, he says, "Duck soup! We're all fine? And Tchikkatlikkit? Good deal."

"None, and..." Osric peers over the edge of the ship, looking for the bodies below. "I'm hoping we don't find out."

He glances round at the rest of the crew. "Anyone hurt?"

Riss thinks intently for a moment, stroking the tuft of fur on the end of his chin. He nods and turns towards the others, grinning at the halfling.

"Well, the power of the arcane has done you a good service today, hasn't it?" he says, "The thrill of battle is truly something worth living for, even though I'll only live about a third of you humans' life spans at best."

He shrugs a little sadly.

"Maybe there's some magics out there that can let me live a little longer, experience a little more," he smiles again but it seems hollow, "Good to see my comrades are uninjured, thats what counts right now."

ooc: nice touch with the black-fletched arrows by the way, very kewl :D

Hremelan looks at Osric, "Nay...the bloomin' bird alm'st got me, but for me magic...". He is still very shaken. It seems that this might be his first encounter with real enemies that wanted to kill him. He'll retire to his room with Adly and spend a few hours calming down. Hunting for treasure seemed like such a good idea yesterday...

Casandra

"Worry not, little one, " she says to Hremelan. "We all must die someday. What we must do is decide the manner of our deaths. To grow old in some little farming villiage, your children having to feed you & clean up your sh*t? That's not for me. What could be more worthwhile than expanding the sphere of knowledge? We are explorers who will live many lifetimes of peasents in our lives, however short they are."

"Enough talk of death, eh? We're all alive, and I intend to stay that way for a long time." Osric pats Riss on the shoulder. "And I wouldn't worry, if I was you. The planes are never ending, so there's bound to be some magics out there that boost your life-time up a bit."

"The man's right. We don't need any wooden kimonos right now, so why dwell on it? We'll all be on the nightship to the big adios soon enough, so..." Ashan heads back to Tchikkatlikkit and the wheel, just to observe things and see how things work.
