The Scarab

Riss charges at Kobold B with a flurry of blades, hissing menacingly through his wicked teeth.

He'll move onto Kobold C after taking down B.

Khulmbanos was probably up near the front, doing the whole Search for Traps waltz. When the party sights the kobolds he stands (or, more likely, scuttles) aside to let the tougher fighters through. Once all the kobolds are safely engaged, he'll slink forward and make any AoO/Sneak Attacks that present themselves and look fairly safe. Basically, let other people put themselves in danger and fight like a git. :-)

Trying to be helpful, but out of the way, Delg would probably been towards the middle. Seeing the creatures however, Delg will assume the Shifting Sand fighting stance and go into the offensive.

Moving up to desert rat C (Tumble), he will focus on his opponent (declare Dodge against rat C), and then strike, staying in the Shifting Sand stance until the desert rat falls.

Osric will shout a brief prayer to Kord as he charges (+2 to hit, -2 AC) kobold A. If in a position to use his Cleave feat, he'll move on to B, then C

If anyone gets seriously hurt (reduced to less than half hit points, including himself), Osric will break off from combat and heal them, unless Casandra is better placed to help them.

Attack: Heavy Mace (+3 to hit (+5 charge on first round), 1d8+2 dmg).
AC: 17 (15 charge on first round), Flat-footed 16, Touch 11.
Hit Points: 15.

Ashan grunts and sneers at the sentries. He'll try to tumble inbetween two of the sentries — either A & B or in the corners between B & C — in a position to provide some flanking. His eyes flash blue and he hammers his pick at the nearest one of the three.

OOC: Ashan tumbles (+7) through to one of those spots, pops to his feat and attacks with his pick (+2, 1d6+1/x4), charging it with psionic energy (1 pp, +1d4 dmg). In the event that any of the beasties start moving around him, he does have combat reflexes and can take up to 5 AoO. In his second and third rounds, he'll generally continue with the grunt work, either hammering away at his current target or tumbling over to a new one — always looking to provide flanking for his teammates. He only uses his psionic weapon feat in the first round.

The battle!

Casandra fires first, and then tries pushing into the room. Her bolt shatters against the far wall.

Delg tumbles past the lead kobold, and then lands a knifelike blow against the kobold in the rear. The kobold is pushed back, and utters a surprised squeal.

Hremelan takes a step behind Khulbanos (since nobody is providing cover) and draws his sling. One of the kobolds turns slightly as Delg tumbles past, and Hremelan takes an opportunity shot at him--nailing the hapless lead kobold.

Riss charges with swords in each hand. His leading weapon swings wide and slashes downwards across the chest of the lead kobold that Hremelan just hit-killing the creature instantly.

The two remaining kobolds do their best to defend themselves.

The kobold facing Delg jabs at him with his shortspear, grazing him in the shoulder.

The kobold to Riss's left charges forward and jabs at the Nezumi. His spear hits squarely in the side. The spear punctures the leather armor and sinks in deeply.

Ashan tumbles into the room, neatly vaulting over and behind the kobold attacking Riss. He flanks the kobold, and suddenly lunges forward with his psionically charged pick. He misses, but recovers his swing and steadies himself for another attack.

With the kobold in front of him neatly flanked and threatened by both Riss and Ashan, Khulbanos steps sideways into the room and makes an underhanded swipe. It misses, but Khulmbanos still has an easy shot at him.

Osric pushes forward and charges shouting what sounds at first like gibberish. Actually it's a prayer to Kord.. in either case, he charges directly for the kobold flanked by Ashan and Riss. Osric slams into the kobold with his heavy mace.

Casandra slings her crossbow and readies her morningstar and shield. She moves into the room.

Delg makes another careful strike at the spear-wielding kobold he is facing. His attack falls short, but Delg returns to a ready stance.

Hremelan is now completely exposed in the hallway, so he fires another sling bullet at the kobold flanked by Ashan and Riss. This bullet hits as well, ricocheting off of the kobolds scaly head.

Riss, still reeling from the vicious spear-jab, attacks with both of his swords. He uses a scissoring move to slash the kobold and push him backwards. His second sword follows up with a heavy downwards blow. The kobold dies.

The last kobold is still facing Delg. He makea another jab at him with his spear, but Delg quickly sidesteps the attack.

Ashan moves up to strike at the kobold threatening Delg, and swings his pick. It connects, and the last kobold is killed.

Riss is still badly hurt.

The room is sandy and dark. There is a door to the north and another to the west.. both are marked with tracks from kobolds moving in and out.

Casandra

"Good fighting, team. Allow me to inspect your wound, Riss." Casandra will look at the wound, briefly inspecting for poison or disease, then will cast a cure light wounds spell on him.

OOC: spontaneous casting replacing her Endure Elements

Casandra then inspects the fallen Kobolts. Anything unusual or of value?

The Kobolds have ragged suits of small-sized studded leather-- probably not worth anything.

Their spears are crude, but the curved sickles they carry might be worth a few gold pieces each.

Searching the room further, turns up a pair of pottery urns in the northern corners. Each holds a crude gold lizard figurine. Khulbanos appraises them at around 60 gold each. (he may be off).

Aftermath - Delg

As the desert rat fell to Ashan's pick, Delg nods his head in thanks.

"Thank ye fer th' help. Th' beastie was quicker than he looked."

Looking at the scratch on his shoulder, Delg wipes the thin trail of blood away with his hand.

~Not but a scratch...proly shouldn't even mention it...~

As the others begin to examine the bodies, Delg walks around following the tracks to the door to the west and puts his ear against it to see if he can hear anything.

Khulmbanos holds up the lizard. "Is Ram-Tet going to pay us for stuff other than the scarab, or do we consider these perks of the job?"

He peers at the statuette of the giant lizard god-thing for a moment, then thrusts it at Delg. "Arrrgh! Luuunncch! Luuunch has escaped!"
