I use a screen most of the time. I use it to hide maps mostly, and because it has good reference tables on it for the primary skills in the game.

In games where I have less to hide (like games where I have the maps on my laptop), I still use the screen, but lay it out on the table for easy access to the charts.

Always. Heck, I paperclip two four-panel screens together to make a five-panel wall. ;)

All combat rolls are in the open, along with most other rolls -- I like having a place to keep notes, monster counters, etc.

I used to, but I like the freedom of rolling in the open. My players complained that I hit WAY too much, and now that it's out in the open, the complaints have stopped.

And I still hit them WAY too much!! Now they complain about the dice......

Hehe, our DM started to roll in the open for exactly the same reason..and now we curse his dice every time before we start playing. Just too bad it doesnt help as we still get beaten up badly all the time. I think I have to go buy some voodoo anti-dice recipe or so...

I use a screen from time to time, just to have all the stuff I refer to constantly right at hand, but I'm happy to get rid of it if it's getting in the way. I generally roll out in the open though, except for those rolls where it's actually important that the character not know if they've succeeded or not.

Always here as well.

Too many things I need to keep hidden: campaign & adventure notes, maps, sheets of pre-rolled d20s (for hidden checks I don't actually want to roll for). Not to mention the reason to have a screen in the first place - modifier tables and such...

I like to stand and walk up to the players to give them handouts, draw and refer to maps, point things out, check character sheets, and just not to be stuck in one place with my legs going to sleep. But I'll generally leave my notes behind a screen.

Laptop screen, works fine, gets in the way less.

Pseudo-random dice simulator also gives me the ability to make rolls that the PCs don't even know how many dice I'm rolling... laptop good.
