The Secret Inspiration Of 4th Edition?

I think the inspiration for 4E was a 1st level TPK after the wizard and cleric had both cast both their spells and the fighter sucked up a critical before it got down to his initiative.

The rogue of course fought brilliantly, but the CR was against him.

The inspiration behind 4e

Someone said adding tieflings to the core races and warlocks to the core classes was a good idea.

They were admittedly extremely wrong but I guess the nay sayers were on holiday at the time so they managed to put the idea through.

And as for 4e it was simply the first medium they could use to spring their "inspiration" upon us all.

Needless to say if I do buy 4e and there are tieflings and warlocks there will be a load of scenes where tieflings are being executed in much the same manner the Silver Falme puritans did to the shifters except it would be fully justified.

Well okay maybe only the tiefling warlocks but I don't see any use for warlocks except as enemies... hmm Warlocks of Orcus?

Works for me!

Um, not really ... What were the similarities supposed to be again?
The original poster dislikes the very idea of there being a 4th edition which isn't exactly like his preferred edition, except better, so he compares the 4th edition (which we still don't know nowhere enough to make any serious judgment calls, really) to the universally panned SenZar.

Next, I will demonstrate that everything you like is anime and/or WoW, and inherently inferior to everything that I like.

No, I dislike the direction I see 4th edition going in, which is fairly obvious considering the amount of information that's been leaked already.

It's not like I brought up "World of Synnibarr"'!

Characters more powerful from the start...

Surviving 1st-level TPK scenario? Facing more than 2 orcs at first level?

Demonic characters playable under the core rules...

Because NOBODY plays a gnomish bard?

Special points to change die rolls...

Its worked so well for other game systems?

Epic level play assumed in the system...

So that epic play isn't tacked on, artificial, and broken?

Is it just me, or is 4th Edition starting to sound a lot like THIS game:
