The secrets behind the Engel RPG

There may be spoilers about the metaplot behind the game here if anyone's actually playing this game.

I picked up the Engel corebook when it was released, and despite the terrible adaptation of the D20 rules I loved the setting. The corebook really served to bring the world to life. Unfortunately I doubt we'll see too many (any) supplements beyond Creatures of the Dreamseed and the Michealite Order Book. It's too bad because I was hoping to find out more about the metaplot.

Now, I know nothing about the german version of the game. For all I know there are hundreds of supplement out for it. Of course even if I could get my hands on them reading them would be a bit of a challenge. So I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the secrets behind the game's story?

The main questions I guess would be who/what are the Dreamseed and the Infernos? Who is the Pontifex Maximus? What caused the Vitusdance? And finally where was the story headed?

I loved those books as well, great stuff. I'm the the same boat, though. I found a couple German websites with more books. It looks like a whole bunch did come out. I haven't runa game, so I haven't really speculated on what the creators had in mind for answers to the secrets you mentioned. Just wanted to pipe up as a fellow fan. :)

I bought it, loved the setting and hated the rules and sold it. Unfortuantely, Blue Rose would be an almost perfect rule set for it with its open classes and Arcana system. All you would need to do is change the different types of Angels into Backgrounds. Gah! It would be so easy :(

I just read the thread.
Also I own the Book in German, I never came around to read all of it and never played it.

Here is the offical site of the German company who produces Engel, maybe you can get something out of it:
Feder & Schwert

A little off topic, but could you explain a little more about Engel? I vaguely remember seeing the book in a local store, thinking it looked beautiful but having no idea what it really was, and never seeing it again.

Now I'm kind of interested...

It is set a few hundreds year in the future and is post-apocalyptic. However, rather than Gamma World, the world has regressed into a medieval state. The Church is pretty much all powerful as Angels have returned. The Angels are the few that are capable of fighting against the Dreamseed, essentially a demon horde. Huge fingers of fire burn down from the sky and create areas of mass destruction across Europe. Overall, it is a medieval, religious, post-apoc mix.

The book has a few very cool secrets. The biggest are set out in the book, but I won't repeat here due to spoilers.

Wow. Sounds like something I'd like, at least for the flavor. I may have to look for a copy.

Some basic stuff is http://www.white-wolf.com/engelweb/ehtml/. The game's open secret is also very very cool and sells the game to most people. However, I do caution that the d20 ruleset conversion is one of the worst available. True 20 as seen in Blue Rose would be a simple and effective fix IMO.

I just picked up the True 20 pdf, and I'm taking a look at converting it over. I'm looking at using Grim Tales as well.
