The Slathered Plates of Butterworth

My players had real trouble with the dread pirate Crunch's milk-resistant berry elementals. I'm not sure if Wizards intentionally screwed up the CR's on all the soggies, or if the players were just hindered by skipping the seemingly optional side quest for the special surprise inside.

Though they probably won't have any trouble getting into Vampire Lord Chocula's manor, since the rogue seduced Ms Buttersworth (successfully) to giving him a coupon for the ball.

(OOC: In real life, I used to work for the company that makes Cap'n Crunch. They were well-aware of that product's "milk-resistance", and its effect on the roof of your mouth. They called it "roof-shred." No lie. :D )

Does anyone think the Mordenkainen's Mastication spell is simply too low a level for its power? Our group's wizard seemed like he was casting that spell all darned day long!

It just chewed right through the enemies.

The sausage zombies were also a bit disturbing and probably warrant a Mature rating or some sort of warning be put on the cover.
I wasn't sure it conveyed the right flavor.

It took some real egging on from me to get the players to proceed, which was too bad because I thought this was something they could really sink their teeth into -- especially with all the juicy details. (Did anyone else notice that the entry on the pancake guardian was mostly fluff, while the granola golem entry was given over almost entirely to crunch?)
