As soon as it's done and I've got the money. At least to get a good, hard look into it.

Now, I'd prefer to have some more years to play around with 3.5 before that happens.

While I'd like to say I won't bother, the truth is - if they released it I'd buy it as soon as the money was available. I doubt I'd get much over the Core Books at this stage as I've moved away from D&D to Spycraft, M&M and WFRP.

The longer the better in my opinion, but I'd buy it in 2008 if it came out AND there was enough to love about it to justify putting aside my 3.x books, which I own a fair bit of. Right now there are only a few prospects about a new edition that perks my interest, mainly the hope that the warlock will become core.

As others have said I will be getting the core books when they become available. Anything else will depend on if I like 4e or not. The date doesn't matter to me.

If 4e reduced/eliminated the dependency on minis, kept GH as the core world, added shaman/witch/hag magic, and brought back the flumph I might be inclined to take a look. Otherwise, I'll do what I did with 2e and skip it, for the most part.

I'll buy the 4e core books the day WotC let's me trade in my 3/3.5e books for a 50% discount. :]
Or offers an extensive conversion guide.

Personally, I'd buy 4th in a heartbeat, if the ruleset is very good... otherwise I'll stick to 3rd for a while, because of the excellent 3rd party material... that won't be compatible with 4th for sure... :/

Who am I kidding? I'd pre-order it on Amazon now if it was an option. So would most people here I suspect.
Count me out on that one. I haven't bought 3.5, why would I buy 4.0? I skipped most of AD&D 2.0 too. I am quite happy with the 3.0 books I have.
