The Special Operations Marksman is a sniper, an expert with longarms, often favoring a specific type of weapon. While regularly acting as long-range support for any type of assault operation, the Special Operations Marksman also performs a surveillance or reconnaissance function.

The Special Operations Marksman prestige class is an update of the prestige class presented in SEP's the Qalashar Device.

The Special Operations Marksman includes the Special Operations Marksman PDF, the Special Operations Marksman OGC document which gathers all the open game content into a Rich Text Format file, and three pictures used in the Special Operations Marksman PDF.

The Special Operations Marksman is from SEP’s Roles and Classes line. Look for the Capable Hero, the Combat Hero, and the Covert Hero specialized classes, and the Counter-Terrorism Assaulter and the Spec Ops Recce prestige classes from SEP. Finally, all the talent trees from these classes will be presented in "Roles and Classes: Talent Trees Assembled."

The modern day sees a lot of snipers used in the military. In the d20 game at times it can be a bit hard to fully show the advantage and talents of these men and women. There has been some attempt to do this in the d20 modern game and Special Operations Marksman is one of these write ups of the sniper.

Special Operations Marksman is a PDF by Sword Edge Publishing. The PDF is one of the small ones coming in at only eight pages. Small PDFs have really been popular and that trend does not seem to be ending any time soon. The PDF also comes with a text version of the book, and all the nice pictures in jpeg format in addition to them being inn the main book. The art in the book looks to actually be photographs of actual snipers in hull camouflage and it really shows them in action. The PDF has no book marks in it and the layout could be tighter as there are some white space problems.

The book starts with the prestige class of the Marksman. It is not terrible tough to get into but one will need to be at least sixth level to do so. The requirements are all what would be expected for such a class. There are three new talents trees presented here. The Long Range Reconnaissance talent tree, Sniper Training Talent Tree, and Firearms Training Talents Tree. The class seems like a good one for players and it offers a lot of customization and options.

That is all there is in this small PDF. It is just the class and then the options that are created for the class. It fills a nice void and for players and DMs that want a class like this in their game.
