The SRD updates: What will this allow us to do?

Colour me stupid, but what is happening to the SRD?

I just had a look at it and the Mindflayer is still there

Dave - make sure you are looking at the RELEASED SRD and not the DRAFT SRD.

The released SRD is at www.wizards.com/d20

whereas the draft SRD is at www.opengamingfoundation.org

Once a section goes to release, a publisher CANNOT use the draft version anymore.

Tome of Horrors, released as OGC with special permission from WotC, so they can't pull that one by changing the SRD.

If the conversion guide is still viable, that might be an avenue for reintroducing the critters using the 1e MM and MMII as a source. From the FAQ you can even keep the names but no ecology or society info from the original sources.
