The Subtype Challenge

Confindent in your 1337 rules-fu? Does your knowledge of the rules put the very dieties and demigods to shame? Well then I've got a challenge for you!

The Subtype Challenge:

Build a character, maximum of ECL 20. Cram as many subtypes into it as you can. The person who creates the character with the most subtypes wins. :D

For reference, the bolded text below is a subtype:
Doppleganger
Medium Monstrous Humanoid (Shapechanger)

You may use any WoTC material, no third party stuff.
Simultaneous Subtypes will be the only ones counted (if a character with a single subtype uses a spell and now has a different single subtype (not an additional one), this counts as only one subtype.)

I'll start us off with this entry (setting the bar intentionally low):

Celestial Human Fighter 18 (Encountered on the material plane)
Humanoid (Extraplanar)

Score: 1 subtype.

Just taking a quick shot, how about:

Half-Fire Elemental Barghest
Medium Outsider (Evil, Extraplanar, Fire, Lawful, Shapechanger)

ECL 15 --> 6 HD from barghest (MM) + 6 LA from barghest (Savage Species) + 3 LA from half-elemental template (Manual of the Planes).

It's tough to think of a template that actually gives you a new subtype (without erasing the old ones); e.g., does the ghost template erase your previous subtypes?

Edit: I guess I should note that my entry has 5 subtypes total.

IcyCool, here's my entry (deliberatly low, too):
Celestial Human Fighter 18 (encountered on the material plane.
Humanoid (Extraplanar, Human)

Score: 2 subtypes.

:p

Now that this is out of the way...

Fiendish Half-Earth Elemental Half-Orc Wererat with Human Heritage feat.
Half-Elemental: LA +3
Wererat: LA +3, HD +1
Fiendish: LA +2
That leaves 11 levels for some class, unfortunately not enough, probably, to reach the last level of, say, Elemental Savant (Fire).

Humanoid (Earth, Extraplanar, Human, Orc, Shapechanger).

Score: 5 subtypes

Hmm, how about:

Fiendish Half-Air Elemental Blue Werewolf Psion 5/Psion Uncarnate 2
Small Humanoid (Air, Extraplanar, Goblinoid, Incorporeal, Psionic, Shapechanger)

Fiendish LA +2
Half-elemental LA +3
Blue LA +1 (Expanded Psioncs Handbook)
Werewolf +2 HD, LA +3
7 character levels

ECL = 18
Subtypes = 6

Note: Gains incorporeal subtype when using Shed Body ability of Psion Uncarnate

Good idea. Let me refine my initial model a bit:

Celestial Half-Water Elemental Maenad Wererat Psion 5/Uncarnate 6 with Human Heritage feat.
Half-Elemental: LA +3
Wererat: LA +3, HD +1
Celestial: LA +2
11 class levels.

Humanoid (Extraplanar, Human, Maenad, Incorporeal, Psionic, Shapechanger, Water).

Score: 7 subtypes

:D

I'm not sure Maenad and/or Xeph are allowed to take Human Heritage, as it's not exactly clear wether or not these races are descendant from humans, like Half-elf, Half-orc, Aasimar, Tiefling, and Elan. (I know Elans can take it. They then are Humanoid (Human, Psionic).)

Half-Fire Elemental Cerebrilith
Large Outsider (Chaotic, Evil, Extraplanar, Fire, Psionic, Tanar'ri)

Subtypes = 6
ECL = 21 :(

You mean refine my model a bit! :p

Hey, I did say psion uncarnate was a good idea. The rest is mine. (Well, you could say you were the first with the half-elemental template, too, but the lycanthrope and Human Heritage bits were mine, and the celestial/fiendish bit is IcyCool's one.)

By the way, the game would be easier if one were to use the DDM stat cards. Mongrelfolk: Humanoid (Orc, Goblinoid, Reptilian, Kobold), for example. Or Blue: Small Humanoid (Goblinoid, Goblin, Psionic).
