the Tattooed Monk's ki pool

We recently switched my Planescape campaign over to Pathfinder and the monk's player is about to take his first level of Tattooed Monk. I'm seeking opinions as to whether or not the two classes' levels should stack for the purpose of increasing the character's ki pool. The Tattooed Monk's class description naturally doesn't touch on the subject.

Are there any other tweaks that should be made to the tattooed monk to bring it in line with Pathfinder?

If it were up to me, I would say that the tattooed monk levels would stack for purposes of determining the players Ki pool, but that they wouldn't gain any other Ki abilities that they wouldn't otherwise get from their actual level in monk.
