The Temple of Elemental Evil: GM:DimDarknight

Though polite and talkative, Belrin seems reluctant to reveal any information about his past, especially the time he was away from the Material Plane.

The troop passes over a hill as it nears Hommlet’s outskirts; on the other side is a set of shoddy barricades, each has an archer perched behind it. A horseman patrols the area.

Lenwë and Tem hear a twig snap and footsteps from the north. Egoz, Halbrom, and Torillan spot an archer to the south. He is poorly concealed behind some forest brush.

Your arrival has caught them unawares.

Init: ((No surprise round for either side. Remember to draw your weapons)) Egoz, Torillan, Horseman, Lysienne, Tem, Halbrom, Lenwë, Archers, Belrin.

Gear check:
[sblock]Horseman: Chain shirt, longsword. The horse is not wearing barding and looks old and haggard. Archers: padded armor and crossbows at the barricades, shortbow to the south, can't see armor well enough to determine type. They all look to be human.[/sblock]

Halbrom Starforge, Male Dwarf Wizard

Halbrom quickly moves through the gestures and words of a spell, which he finishes by tossing a little sand in the direction of the horseman and archers at the barricades.

OOC: Halbrom casts sleep (DC 16) centred on the connecting point of squares B10/C11. If that is not possible by the time he acts, he will take his light crossbow from his belt and load it. Darkwing will just stay perched on his shoulder for the moment.

Egoz Quickhand - Halfling spellthief

Egoz Goes behind the tree on the left (U14 - Out of the map) and takes cover
He will see what the reaction of the soldiers or what ever are those guys.
If they are hostile he pulls out his Light Crossbow. if not, he'll pop up again.

Torillan, Human Fighter

Torillan, momentarily startled by having a potential enemy so close, draws the spiked chain from around his neck and steps off the road [to S13], whirling the chain above his head to extend its' reach. He waits to see what the one behind the shrub does [in R15].

OOC: - 5' step, draw weapon, ready an attack if opponent in R15 attacks

Tem, ever alert, ducks around the group, drawing his sling, and launching a stone at the nearest enemy.

OOC: Move to Q9, attack with sling (+4 ranged, 1d3 damage).
 


"Indeed," Lysienne says drily, and whilst I for one have little love for the strong arm of the law, I've little taste for indiscriminate slaughter either - of guards or anybody else. We should at least take some time to ascertain if these people, whoever they are, pose a threat to us."
 

Brandishing his blade, the horseman urges his horse forward, “Surrender your weapons and your gold, and no one gets hurt”.

As he advances, Tem spots a fourth archer and slings a bullet at him; the archer’s yelp reveals his presence to everyone else.

Halbrom’s spell puts both rear archers in dreamland. ((asleep and helpless))
