The Tome of Psionics...?

Hmm, insult WotC employees & thus WotC, and then plan on "purchasing" a license to make it "official D&D"? Umm, yeah, there's a certain apparent inability to grasp the idea of consequences that doesn't make me sanguine about quality game mechanics.

Agreed.

But allow me to add that I like the art. ^_^ I know it is unlikely to happen, but I wouldn't be disappointed if WotC utilized more comic/manga-like style (we've already seen some of this in Eberron).

Okay, now I'm ticked. So he's claiming that the 3.0 PsiHB was plagiarized from the 3.0 PHB, and the 3.0 psionic Malhavoc books were stolen from content on the WotC and Malhavoc message boards?

I am glad to see this horrible truth finally seeing the light of day. But, frankly, this guy has only exposed the tip of the iceberg. Did you know that most of the MM3.5 was actually directly plagiarized from the MM3.0? And if you check out old TSR products, you'll discover that essentially every monster in the MM3.5 was named after monsters from those old supplements.

And don't even get me started about how Ed Greenwood ripped off the 1st Edition Forgotten Realms Campaign Boxed Set for his 3rd Edition FR hardback. The guy is a hack. A hack!

WotC is nothing but a den of pirates and plagiarizers. And it's nice to see someone finally calling it the way that it is.

...

On a more serious note, I was really excited at the idea of a Tome of Psionics featuring esoteric psionic systems like the Tome of Magic did for magic. That would be nifty if it was done right.

Call it "Tome of the Mind." That way you get away from the mindset of the optional systems being "psionics" systems (both for those who love the current system, and those that hate psionics period).

I'd write Tome of Mana -- variations on point-based magic systems. :)
It depends on which direction you want to go in. It seems the intent of this is alternate psionic systems not alternate magic systems that use a point based system. (Honestly, I'd rather see the first than the second).

Oh, no, it would be alternate takes on the Psionics system, but it would also be compatible with magic -- just as 3.5e Psionics is compatible with magic!

I'd call it something other than Psionics, though, because I have a strange desire to see it sell well... and then I'd pimp it in Psionics-specific places, too, because they know the glory of spell point systems. :)

I really think WotC has covered the spell point system of psionics. Another would seem like just a minor tweak rather than a new system. I think the systems in "The Tome of the Mind" should have different approaches than point based systems.

There's already plenty of reinventing the wheel where psionics is concerned, though. Green Ronin has The Psychic's Handbook, Alea Publishing has Mindcraft, Better Mousetrap Games has Psihammer, and even DaemonEye Publishing has their Academe Mentus.

The way this guy seems so disdainful of WotC's psionics but so convinced that his own work rocks on toast just rubs me the wrong way (not to mention it makes it seem rather odd that he wants WotC to publish his work), and that's before the childish accusations even come into play.

If this guy seriously wants to be a publisher, he needs to act more professional (and learn how to spell; that kind of typing doesn't inspire people to buy something you wrote).

Do I read sarcasm on the accusations of newer edition products merely being hacks of older edition products, like as if we didn't know that's how the business runs in the first place?
