The Tome of Psionics...?

But allow me to add that I like the art. ^_^ I know it is unlikely to happen, but I wouldn't be disappointed if WotC utilized more comic/manga-like style (we've already seen some of this in Eberron).
I remember hearing that Ryan Dancey had the idea, back when Third Edition was new, of reprinting the Player's Handbook with alternative art styles - one more traditional like previous editions, one anime- and manga-inspired, et cetera.

I like the idea, if only to get anime fans the hell away from getting their preferred art styles in my books! ;)

I like a lot of the sequential art pieces Wizards of the Coast have been using in Eberron chapter headers, but I wouldn't like to see manga-style art. More Mike Mignola-esque like Kev Walker's contributions to the Eberron Campaign Setting would be great, though:

Tomm Coker's work is great too:

I am somewhat ashamed to admit that, if they did this, I would probably own a full set of them within a year of their release.

The quality of the art is alright, but it so does not fit D&D in my opinion.

Plus, I really don't like this guy's attitude. No cent from me, buddy.

WotC should release a Tome of Psionics before this bozo figures out whats going on.

If it presented some new takes on Psionic Abilities that were interesting and new (not just Psi versions of other stuff already out)... I'd be down. :p

This Mr Hale can bite me. How dare he impugn the honor of Bruce Cordell!!

Edit: Perry's art is kinda cool. I would take Anime over Dungeonpunk anyday.

It seems to me that someone who knows so very little about the RPG market shouldn't really by trying to sell anything in it - certainly not while badmouthing other authors.

As much as I like a lot of the material in Complete Psionic, I'd still have to say I think that book impugned Bruce's honor well enough. Additionally, the concepts of Weapons of Legacy was very strongly appealing, I use them in my campaign, but the execution, presentation and organization of that book is lacking.

This very cool idea was Jonathan Tweet's, not Ryan Dancey's.

It's funny, half the time we spend being annoyed with the Core books is about the Dungeon Punk art aspect. (Granted, I've got a museum conservator who works in Arms & Armor, so the artist is going to be wrong, and he is going to know it, and the fact that D&D spans 2500 years of arms & armor doesn't help.)

I prefer Arcana Evolved's take on the punk aspect -- gratuitous spikes are exactly as unrealistic as Exotic weapons in general, and it's nice to see them bundled together (and thus optional).

Cheers, -- N

For me, historical realism doesn't matter. In fact, I prefer none.

A long time ago, shortly after the 3.0 Psionics Handbook came out, this Chad Hale was known as PsiAndCo on the WotC boards (note that my only evidence to support this is that Mr. Hale's e-mail address is psiandco@...). Now, a lot of people were complaining at the time about how much 3.0 psionics sucked (complaints I feel were justified), but PsiAndCo was the most vocal of the bunch. He ranted, some would say he raved, he said he'd create and sell his own psionics system, and was eventually kicked from the WotC boards. Now, I followed this system of his for quite a while. It was different, it was cool, and it was nothing like the D&D magic system. He released previews, character sheets and such. It was of professional quality, and was playtested a lot. But things kept getting delayed because he absolutely wanted to release his product in print, not .pdf, and that's a costly endeavour. And then 3.5 came out, so he took the time to update his system to that. After years of waiting, news was sparse, and then the Expanded Psionics Handbook came out. This was good enough for me, but I would return to PsiAndCo's Yahoo group for his project every 3 months or so. When the last post was something like 2 years old, maybe a year ago, there was finally news. PsiAndCo was back, and still wanted to release his system.

I assume this "Tome of Psionics" is that system. I really couldn't care less what he says, but I've been waiting 5-6 years for this psionics system, so I sincerely hope it really comes out.
