The Upcoming Fifth Edition of D&D

I heard from reliable insiders at WotC that 4th Edition is not coming out this year. That's because they've just finished printing 5th Edition, and will start selling it once WotC has ran out of ideas for all their 3.5 books. Fifth Edition will be sold in collectible booster packs with all kinds of dungeon punk art, and they're trying to market it towards the tweeners. Oh yeah, the use of a DM is optional, and they're shrinking rulebooks down so they fit inside packs of cards.

Is there a way to block threads by category?

No there is not, Pseudonym, but the most effective way to avoid them is just not to click on them. I keep checking them to see if the 4E threads become officially banned again. Plus they're funny sometimes. If they're not your thing, though, you should probably just skip past the threat titles and move onto threads that are worth your time.

"An edition so good that we had to skip three and four...Paranoia, Fifth edition."
Or something like that.
