Fabricate
Wow. What a cool spell. If you've got the craft skill, this a truly amazing power to compliment it. This is another place where creativity and SKILL should be rewarded.Transmutation Level: Sor/Wiz 5 Components: V, S, M Casting Time: See text Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) Target: Up to 10 cu. ft./level; see text Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: No
You convert material of one sort into a product that is of the same material. Creatures or magic items cannot be created or transmuted by the fabricate spell. The quality of items made by this spell is commensurate with the quality of material used as the basis for the new fabrication. If you work with a mineral, the target is reduced to 1 cubic foot per level instead of 10 cubic feet.
You must make an appropriate Craft check to fabricate articles requiring a high degree of craftsmanship.
Casting requires 1 round per 10 cubic feet (or 1 cubic foot) of material to be affected by the spell.
Material Component: The original material, which costs the same amount as the raw materials required to craft the item to be created.
Okay - so the spell doesn't let you KILL a creature ... directly (what happens, though, if you ... say... Fabricate 1 cubic foot of dungeon cieling into a 1 cubic foot stone spike (pointed down, of course) directly over your opponent? Check the range on the spell). Does a corpse still count as a creature? If not, blankets away!Hypersmurf said:Creatures or magic items cannot be created or transmuted by the fabricate spell.
Man, that sucks.
"These blankets are selling like crazy! They're so soft and fluffy... what are they made out of?"
"Halflings."

Then a a few game months later, I'll send them on an adventure to the kingdom's most prosperous iron mining town, where they can see the out of work miners and their starving children.
I imagine the paladin will be very upset.
I bet they won't do it again.
DM_Matt said:That works when demand for both Iron and labor is flat, but its still going to be profitable in a not-so-damaging way in wartime. A mage conjuring up iron right next to facility where they have tons of blacksmiths or next to a shipyard can produce Iron much faster and cheaper than mining and shipping it. Additionally, a lot of the miners would be fighting in the war instead of digging, anyway.
