The warmage--which spell do I choose?

I recently started a warmage character to see what the hubbub was about. At 3rd level and every three levels beyond, a warmage gains "advanced learning," which allows him to add an extra spell to his narrow list, provided it is of the evocation school. At 3rd level, there's little choice--using just Complete Arcane and the PHB, your choice is Tenser's floating disk. But at 6th level and beyond, there are some really interesting directions to take the character based on what evocations he chooses. For instance, which spell from the following list would you add to your repetoire, provided you could only choose one?

Darkness--advantage: concealment vs. foes; many warmage spells don't require attack rolls
Daylight--advantage: not much that I can see
Gust of wind--advantage: not much
Leomund's tiny hut--advantage: a hidden shelter from wandering foes and inclement weather; occasionally useful in combat as complete concealment
Resonating bolt (Complete Arcane)--advantage: knocks walls down real good
Wind wall--total defense from ranged attacks smaller than giant rocks

Choices, choices.

I would pick darkness or wind wall. Leomund's tiny hut is of limited utility - admittedly, less so if you're the only arcane caster in the party.

I can tell you, the warmage in the PnP game, I'm DMing has been very happy about his choice of Tenser's Floating Disk. :D

As for the next spell, I would go with Leomund's Tiny Hut, and after that Wall of Force is pretty much a given.

I'd go for Leomund's Tiny Hut. Besides the non-combat usage, which is pretty nice too, being able to benefit from total concealment in combat while your enemies don't is great.

I'd go for Leomund's Tiny Hut for the same reasons Shilsen stated. Wind Wall would probably be my second choice. Darkness just isn't as much fun as it used to be with it beind shadowy illumination these days.

warmage goodness

I went with Wind Wall for my warmage and was happy with it, it came in useful a couple of times for deflecting missle barrages and even for holding back a cloudkill once.
In general, warmages dont get alot of defensive magic, so you're better off concentrating on these with bonus spells. Utilities like Leomunds Hut are cheaply gooten on scrolls just in case.

Why don't the enemies benefit from concealment? The hut's opaque.
