The Wilderlands boxed set. It's just amazing.

So, I got talked into buying this at Gen Con (it wasn't hard). I'm just blown away by this thing. Yea, it's $70, but I didn't even balk about that. It's just so freaking incredible. I've been reading it in what little spare time I have, and I'm just really impressed by the amount of work and detail that went into this thing.

I'm curious who here has it, and who plans to use it for their next campaign? I'd also like to hear about any attempts at "filling" in the blanks or other products you intend to use to flesh it out even more.

There is a mention of an ENWorld lesser race guide in the book, but I can't find it. Anyone know anything about this?

Lastly, if you're using it, or intend to use it, how will you implement it? As is - with all the expansions, and the gods, and the crazy sci-fi-esque history, or will you intend to change a lot of things?

As for myself, I'm thinking of using the 2e Forgotten Realm's Faiths and Avatars book with all the god fluff it has for the FR gods. Admittedly, I won't use all of them, but I may use quite a few. I've always loved the FR gods.

I'll probably also use the ToH for extra monsters, and I want to get Monsters of Faerun for those extra monsters to flesh the critters out even further. I intend to make heavy use of Bullywugs.

I think I'd like to pick up the Judge's guild "Castles" and "treasure maps" products at DTRPG to include some extra ruins, and I picked up GR's Dungeons of DOOOM to add extra dungeons in it as well. So, I should be totally set.

I need to decide on my list of final races, and I haven't decided if the Player's guide to the Wilderlands is worth it or not. There seems to be a mountain of fan material, and free downloads for this setting, but I admit I haven't gotten my head around all of it yet, or really had time to download it, but there seems like there's a lot there to take advantage of.

write a review on it!! I didn't get a copy so you have to tell me specifically just how awsome this is!! :D

Well, I'd like to, and I might, but it certainly won't be exhaustive. The thing is 400 pages, after all. It's just got a ton of stuff in it. I just can't possibly read it all.

So you're glad I talked you into it? ;)

I'll be using it in my next campaign. I'm leaning toward having humans be the only playable race. I love some of the gods that go with the setting, like Armadad Bog and Nephtlys. Here is a link to an excerpt from the player's guide that discusses the pantheon.

I've been toying with the idea of using the basic classes as per Unearthed Arcana and turning some of the core classes into 15 level prestige classes, and maybe expanding a few other prestige classes to fill out the list.

I love the feel that Wilderlands has of bizarre, lost ancient cultures. I love the idea that civilization has deteriorated so extremely. I find the setting so evocative that I'm having a hard time dragging my attention back to my current campaign, which seems insipid and dry as sawdust by comparison. I'm starting to long for a TPK. :]

All right, darn you. I'd resisted getting this up until now. It's not that I wasn't interested, just that I couldn't afford the price for another setting.

But after hearing the raves, and reading the descriptions, I figure I can at least pillage uncountable amounts of stuff from it, even if I don't use it as-is.

Order placed. And my wallet hates you all.

Oh, you can. I'd like to take a two week vacation, ship the husband and the dog off somewhere and just settle in with this thing.
