The Womb of Khyber throbs with birthing pains!

Summer-Knight925

First Post
So I am starting to write a plot frame for an Argonnessen adventure line

the general idea?

Tiamat (The Daughter of Khyber) is awaking in her prison and with the awakening, an army if crawling out of the caves. The Spawn of Tiamat are afoot waging war against the Dragon's homeland, the Seren tribes and the chamber world-wide.

Where do the PCs come in?

it starts with the PCs (from different tribes, monasteries and other such places on the continent) meet at a gathering of such groups. At this gathering, a horde of Spawn attack, killing many of those gathered and sending the PCs fleeing in fear of death (while this does seem like putting the PCs on a track, the direction they flee dictates which encounter they trigger, they still have a choice [they could stay if they wanted to die])

On the road they are attack by a smaller group (of level appropriate Spawn) and after killing enough spawn, the spawn flee...with a reason to chase after them (yet to be decided, depends on the PCs, not actually that important at the time)

After following them back to a small cave (where the spawn are living at the time) and the dungeon crawl ensures, eventually they learn "The womb of khyber throbs with birthing pains, her daughter is shifting, the prophecy spoke of this)

after a long few adventures the PCs fight an avatar of tiamat, they learn more...they also learn TIAMAT HERSELF IS BREAKING FREE

as such (because what player DOESNT want to slay tiamat? duh...) the PCs eventually go to Tiamat's "Lair of Lies" (the name of the twisting maze of caves, where Tiamat uses her voice to lure the PCs into traps and such) and battle tiamat....if they survive or not dictates what happens next, if they die...well that sucks for them, if they live?

they win...killing Tiamat (however...legend says Khyber bore another child...but that is for later adventures)
and theyre heroes, everyone loves them, nice day
the end

good or bad?

Sounds good. It sounds like something that would involve more than one continent, to me. What are some the adventures you'll be filling the campaign? Not to sound to cliche, but getting there is half the journey, and such.

You are talking about a long running campaign based around one of the most classic concepts- Slaying Dragons!

Not only is there room to hunt traditional dragons, but you've got everything dragon-like on the table here, at various encounter levels. the Dragon-type slaying can't get boring (As if it could) because you've got so much variety to choose from with this. Very nice.

Who would not think this is cool? I'd sign up!

some of the adventures will be more location based, a sort of series of dungeons, such as an observatory...multiple times (3 to be exact) and while that could get boring, the first time its all fresh and scary, the 2nd time is meant to be reassuring and normal, but the 3rd time...well the spawn got to it and made some changes...like traps, lots of traps

its actually going to be heavy in the trap department, atleast more than usual..

and eventually the PCs have to fight DRACO: KING OF THE DRAGON-MEN (after the song Oregon by Clutch [if you havn't heard of them, go listen to Clutch, their lyrics are very D&D at times...same with the band The Sword, all of their songs are about D&D fun]) who actually betrays the PCs...its a big upset and COULD possibly beset the continent into a small civil war (more of a faction revolt)

and it would span a tiny bit into dargun, for half an adventure (hunting down a certain foe)

and again, the fight with tiamat is very epic...not only do they have to fight her, but they fight 6 avatars at once, a half-dragon minotaur barbarian (of deadly level) who stalks her labyrinth and again all those nasty traps within...I will have to play her has evil, totally evil and vile, lots of 'lies' (plot twist possibilities) and horrors

also, HOPEFULLY someone plays a paladin, since you can't go wrong with dragon slaying and a paladin...but ideally an Avatar of Bahamut would come to the PCs and give them a weapon to aid them, but maybe not, depends on how they fair throught

there will be a few "battle-field adventures" where they attack a camp or fortress of spawn, but maybe 1 of those

and yeah...lots of killing dragon types, I am going to fully use everything I have to keep things interesting

oh, and can anyone say half-illithid green dragon??? B-)

Most of the religious views involve the prophecy, which this is somehow part of

the other dragon deities are viable options for clerics, but most are unimportant

all but Bahumut, obviously, since the avatar of him comes down and grants the PCs a nifty thang

most likely an action point boost or something

to make matters worse, all the PCs get a sibery's dragonmark in the cave of Tiamat, but it goes away after they leave

most of all the 'religious' aspects of the game involve the draconic prophecy and how the PCs play into that

if they put on their investigator monocles they can find what they need to slay Tiamat, or what to watch out for during the trek

lots of action throughout, lots of traps, INTENSE roleplay, where saying the wrong thing gets them attacked by a dragon

stuff like that
