There can only be one! NOT!

I was thinking more and more about this and I’ve concluded that they could and maybe should do another movie…

They need to do a reboot like their doing on Batman which if you think about it the two series have much in common as they started out great and just went down freaking hill. I say just forget the whole freaking thing and start over.

Use the fallowing concept of a trilogy, start way in the past with a series of different individuals and pretty much pull from every character concept and pretty much have immortals pulled from every important event in history or at least have them interact with it… Sign everyone to a three-movie deal. Slowly kill them off, with everyone on the three movies deal the audience has no idea who will the “one”. Besides flash backs are a big deal for that type of movie so your not really wasting money on a three movie deal.

Anyhow, I had to much time on my hands at work last night.

The line in the article that makes a chill run down my back is...

locate the Holy Grail of their world

Why that wording? Are they dealing with the story line that the Immortals are from another planet?

I noticed that too. It makes me think they are going back to the explination from 2. Which if they do will be a BIG mistake.

I kind of liked the first one. The Kurgan was great and so was the soundtrack by Queen. It's well worth seeing again and at least I picked up on a few new details.

Agreed; the first Highlander ruled, especially the soundtrack by Queen.

Speaking of, not to be a grub or a mooch, but does anybody know where I can find the Song Princes of the Universe by Queen on the net, even if it's just streaming to listen to? I love the song but all I can find are really bad techno remixes.

You can find most of the Highlander soundtrack on Queen's album A Kind of Magic, along with some other excellent Queen tunes like "One Vision". I know you're young and probably broke, but the holidays are coming up and it's worth the money.

hmm...AC/DC just ended...guess it's time for Queen...

I agree that the second Highlander filmed sucked in a big way and the third was just a remake of the first. I didn't mind the fourth film except when they screwed with continuity from the TV series.

I was and am still a big fan of the series I really enjoyed the mythology they created. As for Connor dying in the last movie I remember reading an article that the TV series and the movies were not the same universe. More like alternate universes so the fourth movie was not really a sequel of the first three.

BTW the cartoon Highlander was a direct sequel to the second movie with all the other planet mythos.

My take on the whole Highlander series, (of movies).

Highlander 1 was great. I didn't see it in theaters, a friend noted it was on late night tv and we were all up late making balsa wood battleships with the intent to sink them the next day. Watched the movie and loved it.

Highlander 2 comes out and I figured I liked the first, so I will go see it in the theaters. This was before I knew sequels rarely lived up to the first. So, I watched it, kinda enjoyed it, but thought it was too different from the first to be in the series.

Highlander 3 comes out. Watched it in theaters again. It was ok, but very much a rip off of the first movie. With this movie made, you could watch Highlander 1, forget number 2 existed, then watch part 3 if you needed more immortal combat.

Highlander 4 comes out. It has Adrian Paul in it, and the Watchers. I am reluctant to go and waste my time, but a friend talks me into it. Oh my Efffing god. After watching the 4th movie, I had to totally reevaluate my movie theory.

That is to say, after watching the fourth movie, suddenly the second movie LOOKS GOOD!

I will not be watching any remade Highlander stuff, I didn't even watch the Raven, though I might watch repeats of the Zeist based cartoon.

The original Highlander movie will always be a classic. I think the whole problem occurred when they tried to tie the other movies into it. The second movie is just plain bad all the way around (including the Renegade edition with its bad sound editing). The best thing the third movie had going for it was the female co-star who was definitely easy on the eyes.

The television series was far more entertaining in my opinion than most people give it credit for. I think they could have better explained/tied it into the original movie to explain why Connor really wasn't the last one if they had tried. Instead, it was explained in about two sentences by Joe Dawson and then ignored. The fourth film would have been much better had they not insisted on bringing Lambert into it. As I understand it, one of the contract clauses he insisted to was that Connor had to die in this one.

I've been aware of the proposed 5th movie for over a year. The holy grail that they speak of is the "whatever" that makes them immortal and others not. In that respect, the reference to "their world" means immortals and not another planet. Essentially Panzer and Davis are looking to re-energize the shrinking franchise by bringing a new tale to the market. If they completely avoid any references to existing Highlander characters and not include them in the movie (except for maybe Methos, who is enough of an enigma to pull it off) they have a respectable chance at restarting the franchise. Otherwise, it will likely be the nail in the coffin and doom the sinking ship to its death. As it stands now, the marketing firm that pedals the Highlander merchandise has had to combine it with Hercules, Xena, and Conan to cross market better and keep all of them afloat for awhile longer...
