These are not the Druids you are looking for...

Okay, so the greater wild shape powers of the shifter allows you to selectively choose whether or not your belongings merge with your new form.

So our larceny minded druid5/shifter 1 get's up in the morning and puts on several sets of clothing, then wildshifts into the form of an elf and merges all but the most conspicuous set of clothes.

Then he swipes whatever he wants, ducks around a corner and shifts into the shape of a halfling, merges the clothes he was just wearing and pops out a different outfit.

Does this work?

If it has the same restriction as normal WildShape, then no. You can only WildShape into an Animal, Dire Animal or Elemental, depending on your level.

IIRC, the Shifter class added some new stuff, but I don't think humanoids were on the list.

That is just too cool!

He could wear multiple amulets/cloaks/ringsand just shift humanoid shape to get the best equipment combo for the situation!

Although he probably still couldn't afford the stuff...

It's neat but seems to be more than what was intended for the power.

I think I might house rule it to be a concentration check DC 10+ Number of equipment changes. Fail by 5 or less and you are wearing everything, fail by more than 5 and your stuff all falls to the ground around you.

I'd let him do it. That's really smooth thinking on his part, actually, and I don't think it'd be too harmful to your balance.
