Thief and the Seer theme

Besides the fact the offline builder hasn't been supported for months? Apparently, all of the Essentials books.

I no longer subscribe to DDI so rely on the offline builder ;)

What is the difference between the Rogue & Thief...
Wasn't it just WotC Red Box idea where they wanted to bring back old classes (Mage, Thief) but not actually give them anything worthwhile as a difference?

you're way put of the loop, the thief has been around since like october/november of last year.

the rogue uses the aedu design and the thief uses the essentials style design.

Rogue is a class, thief is a subclass, IMO.

They fill the same role in the party, but are built differently. Use whichever your DM thinks is okay, and whichever suits your tastes.

The Thief has a different power structure from the Scoundrel (the subclass of Rogue that describes the Player's Handbook 1 Rogue). The Scoundrel (original Rogue) gets at-will, encounter and daily powers. The Thief (the Rogue from Heroes of the Fallen Lands) uses basic attacks and gets at-will movement abilities ("Tricks") that give him better mobility. He can still Sneak Attack, and he can use Backstab (extra accuracy and damage with combat advantage) once per encounter at first level. The Thief does not get daily attack powers from his class.

Hybrid Thief does not exist yet. Hybrid Scoundrel (original Rogue) does. Ferratus wants to play a Thief, not a Scoundrel, so he can't hybridize it with the Psion. Remember, he doesn't want daily powers.
