Thinking about a Wizard who uses acid attacks...

Convince your DM to use Ranger Wickett's most excellent magic system 'The Elements of Magic: Revised".. on sale here at the EnStore ;)

It can be used for just your character and only slightly affects the balance of play. In short it gives you more flexibility at the cost of some power.

WIth that system, start of with Evoke: Acid and Create: Acid.. and do nasty horrible things to your foes.. like pumping points into the Enduring effect so that the acid eats through whatever it is left on...

Good stuff!

Failing that.. Energy Sub is the way to go.

Benefits of Warmage:

Wads and wads of offensive spells on the fly!

Can eventually wear Medium Armor without spell failure chance.
(makes up for the rigid spell list, no mage armor)

Get Sudden Metamagic feats as a class benefit.

Energy Substitution and Energy Add Mixture feats were tailor made for the Warmage.

Very easy class to play. Makes a good class to give to players who haven't played an arcane caster.



The Downside:

Low HD
Low BAB (You really need the precise shot feat)

Very Rigid Spell list..mostly evocation and conjuration! You get to add an evocation spell every 4 or 5 levels but you already get most of the good ones.

Need to maintain two ability scores Intelligence and Charisma..too maximize effectiveness!
(Get that cloak of Charisma and Headband of Int ASAP)

Recommend party have a sorcerer or wizard with utilitarian spells to augment the Warmage due to there rigid spell list.

I am playing a Half-Fiend Warmage right now. The level adjustment is a bit of a kicker, but the Sudden Metamagic feats will work with my SLA as well.
