Third Edition Revised Covers??

I think what you have there is pictures of the originals. I know that on the wizards site they have a different picture of the modern book. Under Core Rulebook isn't it suppose to say the autors names?

I really hope they make some serious changes... The DMG and other "blue" books have very good covers, the Monster Manual is ok, but I never liked the PHB and others based off of it - all those silly plastic gems that look like they came from "My Little Pony Do it Yourself Princess Jewelry Kit"... Bleh.

No, they're not the originals. Compare the original:

to the revised:

They're definitely different.

But I, too, vote for the mockup theory.

Looks like someone took the original and used photoshop to add some text in their most similiar font .

And Amazon has used their own mockups before for some of their video products (alot of infogrammes games in my experience).

That said, I suspect it'll prolly approach the bookstyle of the BoVD and MM2.

I think the look of the covers and iconic characters are going to change to match those found on the DnD Heroes videogame

I really don't know but could it be possible these covers are for the revised 3.0 core rule books that were done after the first printing? My PHB (1st printing) is different from my players' (2nd printing). For example, theirs have a section on AoO at the end which was not in the 1st printing. I didn't check the covers though...

Nope, the covers of the first printing and the ones that followed look the same.

Just a minor note on the "Core Rulebook X" locations/sizes. The PHB font/size is the same, though maybe just a tad larger. And the location of the DMG "Core Rulebook II" is higher than it is on my printing.
IOW: They went to a bit of trouble to mock it up, if they did.

I checked on the web site of a hobby store here in Quebec and the picture for the PHB in french shows the "revised edition" mention. So, I think they are the covers for a revised edition of 3.0, not 3.5.

The PHB picture for the english version doesn't mention "revised edition" probably because they never updated the picture for the 2nd printing. Anyhow, since I don't know how to import a picture in my post here's the link:

Oh, I forgot to mention that the PHB I referred to is not for pre-orders they are actually available and have been for quite a while now.
