This car drives through water too... Is it real?

It's real...

As far as 6' surf goes, the designer has said it should handle the English Channel, but you wouldn't want to do it on rough seas - 'You'd have to pick your weather'.

(The first customer has already received his - most of the other orders are going out in March. And one of the first guy's first goals is to drive to France.)

I'm still waiting for my Skycar. These guys seem to have been in neutral for the last 4 or so years, but man, will this be cool if it ever actually makes production.

Yes, Clay, that's just you.

That water-car is kind of cool, but there's noplace nearby for me to put it in the water... I suppose I could try to drive across the Rio Grand, assuming I could find a safe way that led right up to the water, but frankly, it'd get mired in the mud, floating or no. That river's only like 2' deep in the middle.

The aircar looks cool... but legally, wouldn't you need a pilot's license to fly it anywhere? It's technically an aircraft.

Yeah. From the Moller FAQ.
4.21. Will I need a license to pilot an M400 Skycar?

Currently the Skycar is categorized as a "powered-lift normal" aircraft by the FAA. This means that, yes, you will require a "powered-lift normal" category pilot's license to operate a Skycar. However, it is our intention that the volantor will eventually evolve into a completely automated form of transportation making you a passenger - not a pilot/driver. At that point, no pilot's license would be required as long as you operate within this control network.
