Wights (which did not make the poll)

lowest powered energy drainer so it can come into a low-level game. My PCs really fear energy drain. (They did a bit moreso in first and second editions though).

I made a template out of wights and you can see it in January in the Penumbra Bestiary. (as well as my ghoul template and ghast prestige class).

It's not just YOUR PC's. ALL PC's fear level drainers and I know that those undead that darin levels or stats are the most POWERFULL it's just I was curious which ones proved the most USEFULL in your game and USEFULL can have MANY meenings

Sorry meepo I thought that the title was pretty self explanatory, If you lothe the undead then you are on the wrong thread and will have to just start your own new thread. I'm sure you can find other like minded people, I know I did!

Ican't be the only one out there who uses/has used spectral wizards out there. Can I? I know that I didn't include all the undead types, maby I should have just posed the question and not the poll? but, it sounds like everyone has found a big variety
of types and templates usefull. the key for me was posted earlier, you don't have to explain the eccology or why they are here. that they are here is sufficent.

I like zombies because I can stuff them with explosives before I send them against the PC's.

I can't really decide which one is my favorite, although the vampires in my game, as well as the liches, are superpowerful, using stuff I found on the net and in Ravenloft, I've got an entire country ruled by a godlike vampire and his undead servants(like in Castlevania). On the lower undead, I prefer to use Skeletons, although now that the Skeleton Warrior and Death Knight are in print for 3rd edition, I'm definitely gonna use those more often too.

And where can I find the Spectral Wizard?

Ghouls and Ghasts all the way - and that was before I'd ever read Pcat's story hour. Now I'm just waiting to get a high enough level party to throw a necropede at them.

Shadows are also another fave, especially in 3e. No matter what level the PC's are, throw enough shadows at them and they get scared.

I threw some Stone Zombie miners in my party for my own amusement. They completely ignorned the PCs (they were busy digging).

It freaked the PCs out. "You said the golem statues carving was realistic.... how realistic". "oh super realistic, as you get close they seem to even have slight scruffy beards and pores on their skin..."
I think they spent an hour and a half mucking about with them, disrupting their digging, moving their tools, asking about their scars, etc.
It was pretty funny.

I've gotten some good use out of those guys in the MoF with big right hands, acid shamblers, a zombie who wanted his sheild back (the paladin kept the shield and turned him into a fine coating of dust). A lot of zombies actually, I find that using the stats of a zombie of a higher size level generally works best. All my large zombies are huge (otherwise they're worse than skeletons the partial actions thing makes them laughably easy to kill.)
