Very similarly. A little more.... expieremental with imagry (or color at the least), and it's told in more of an interesting style. However, it felt less concrete in setting.
Nice, succinct description. Thank you. I think I'll see if I can catch it this weekend. :) CT,HD ranks very high on my list of favorite films, so if Hero is in the same league, I should be a very happy camper.

I would describe Hero as much more stylised than Crouching Tiger. Hidden Dragon. In some ways it feels like a stage play, since it is divided into distinct acts with obvious delineation. The use of colour is, as mentioned earlier, extremely stylised as well.

I think it's a better film, too, actually.

i don't like the epic level rules and i really don't like 'epic level' movies.
no fighting class should be able to fight a whole army even at high level, he might kill lots, but he should never be able to win.

not even thinking about it
Yet, you did need to come in to the thread and tell everyone that you have no interest in that entire style of movie. That's classy.

I caught a snippet of a promo program with Quentin Tarantino and Jet Li for the movie, and I agree with the stylized scenes and conspicuous use of color. It looks gorgeous.

Well, this is a matter of opinion, of course. For me, we shall see. Beating CT, HD will be difficult, though not impossible.

I thought Hero had magnificient landscapes and beautiful imagery, but way, way, way too much slow-motion. So much that I found it boring, in the end. It just lacked the visceral thrill of CTHD's fights.

And Hero's been out in Germany for what I believe is a year.
