My-oh-my, the X-Men drop bigs, from 120 opening to 38 for a second weekend. Guess this just go to show that the big screen just does not have the staying power it use to but come on, the Break-Up number one! I have only heard bad things about it.

1. “The Break-Up,” $38.1 million.
2. “X-Men: The Last Stand,” $34.35 million.
3. “Over the Hedge,” $20.6 million.
4. “The Da Vinci Code,” $19.3 million.
5. “Mission: Impossible III,” $4.67 million.
6. “Poseidon,” $3.4 million.
7. “RV,” $3.3 million.
8. “See No Evil,” $2 million.
9. “An Inconvenient Truth,” $1.33 million.
10. “Just My Luck,” $825,000.

Time to keep track of the movies I see this year but think I will do it a different way...anything I go to that I feel is a waste of time is a 5 or below, 6 not a complete waste, 7 a good two+ hours spent, an 8 a good two hours I will tell my friends about, 9 something I will consider seeing again, 10 will see again.

Rank 10/10: NA
Rank 09/10: V For Vendetta
Rank 08/10: X-Men: The Last Stand
Rank 07/10: Underworld: Evolution - Lucky Number Slevin
Rank 06/10: Bloodrayne
Waste of time: Slither

Or it could be that audiences realized that X-3 has no plot and word of mouth helped drop it.

You just knew the Breakup was going to take the number one spot. All those Friends fans can't get enough of Jennifer Anistan. I did expect a drop off on x-men but not that much. And just to chime in it was a good movie, not great, but good. I don't think word of mouth was that bad on it.

38 mill for X3 is still very, very good. Most likely reason for the drop off is simply more fans seeing it opening weekend rather than waiting.

True, dat. There were, I believe, four screens in my local cineplex showing it on opening weekend. They do that now with big pics -- it used to be kind of dicey as to whether you would get in to a brand new movie on opening weekend; now there's no reason you can't give it a shot.

I think the reason people think X3 is a bad movie, is because they're compairing it to the first 2. If it had no expectations, it would have been rated better by most people I believe. I enjoyed it, but I understand the drop, particularly after a HUGE weekend.

Took my g/f out to see X-Men 3 over the weekend.

We enjoyed it.

I don't nomrally see movies on the big screen but this year I've seen four.

V for Vendetta
Thank You For Smoking
Hard Candy
X-Men 3.

Of those, X-Men 3 is the loser, but it was still pretty good.
