That can't be anywhere near where the 2 Matrix Sequels premiered though, Keanu must have a bunch of money stored away somewhere.

This seemed to be a light weekend, in the next few weeks its going to get hectic and pretty much last that way (for me at least) all the way through the Uninvited one January 30.

Very light weekend, the market has been soft the 4th quarter, Twilight being the only non-holiday release that has gone beyond expectations (except for Brown Jenkins).

As for Keanu's numbers, here is top 20 "opening" weekend (non-adjusted $$$):

I think that second chart speaks a bit to how much is expected from opening weekends these days as much as anything else.

Nothing like the Holidays did not do anywhere near what I thought it might.

Madagascar 2 and Twilight are both getting their share of the holiday money and Bolt continues to limp along.

4 Christmases made its money back by week three? That surprises me, too, and so does Quantum not making more of its money back by week five.

Kinda sad about Australia.

I wonder if Milk will get a wider release as we get closer to awards time?

I figured that Earth Stood Still would crash and burn but I guess that it had a respectable showing. We'll see if word of mouth causes a big drop off in week two.

Quantum of Solace will be thought of as a box office failure because of the domestic number, even though it has done fantastic overseas.

Budget: 200 Million

Domestic: $157,668,000 (30.6%) + Foreign: $357,920,687 (69.4%) = Worldwide: $515,588,687

I wonder if the benchmark will ever shift to a global yardstick? Seems ridiculous to hold a movie about a British protagonist thwarting international schemes with very little U.S. American focus to a box office standard such as it is.
