Get Smart does well but there is no love for The Love Guru (Abba needs to get naked in her next movie ;) ) Panda and Hulk fight for the number 3 slot.

Well looks like The Love Guru is tanking... not as bad as Speed Racer but definitely #4 is not what you would have expected for a Mike Myers film.

Hey, Iron Man has crossed the 300 million line... and is still ahead of Indy!

And yeah, looks like Love Guru is going to tank. I wonder how much better it would have done if it hadn't opened against another comedy? You'd think that by now the studios would have learned not to schedule two similar movies that way during summer... Unless, of course, both figured they'd come out on top.

Which, I think they hoped for.

Mike Myers: Opening Average (gross - wide release) for 13 movies: $39,277,566
Steve Carell: Opening Average (gross - wide release) for 9 movies: $31,954,533

Could Get Smart have been helped by the fact that is was based on an existing property?

In any case, I would like to see The Love Guru at some point, though I would be unlikely to go to see it in theatre based on its own merits. Wanting to see it at all ight have something to do with me being Canadian though, it having Myers and the Leafs (my favourite team, of course), and Jessica Alba doesn't hurt either.

More likely it's down to "Get Smart" receiving mostly decent to glowing reviews, while "The Love Guru" has almost universally been lambased as an awful film. While some films are review proof, those are mostly ones that have some sort of built in franchise/fan base and Love Guru is going to have neither (aside from some Canadian hockey fans apparently).

Steve Carrel is probably also much more popular and well known at the moment than Mike Myers is. He was on the Daily Show and has been in several recent mega hits. Myers left SNL about 11 yrs ago and it's been 6 years since his last popular live action film (or about 9 since his last good one).
