Thomas Covenant is back

First Post
The first of four books in the Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant is out on bookshelves. It's a hefty 535 pages, from what I read.
Like him or hate him, Covenant is back. As a fan of Stephen Donaldson I would like to cheer him and the news he has returned to the Chronicles.

I second that! Started the first book and it's a real gem.
Donaldson's style and storytelling has matured and the
book feels just right.

And the Covenant haters are already out -- but what I liked was
in the introduction/recap part of the book, Donaldson emphasizes
(apologizes for?) Covenant's behavior from thinking
it was all a dream/delusion. People get on their high-horse about "What a
crummy person Covenant was..." -- but consider what you might
do in your dreams, especially if you've tried lucid dreaming, and
imagine what would've happened if you woke up and found out
what you did was real? I bet there are darker things in real people's
dreams than what TC did.

As to him being a whining wimp in the early novels, well, he is an anti-hero.
:)

Edena, have you picked it up? My only reservation is the fact that
I'll have to wait a while for the next one and the TC chronicles are
notorious for their end-of-book cliffhangers.
