Those Pesky Dungeon Tiles

What are some of the things you guys tried to keep them from not moving.

I'm using them in combo with my Tact Tiles and thinking of using the putty they sell at Staples. Has anyone tried this? Does it damage the tiles?

Another possibility that occurred to me: Use the little dots that you put under glass tops that go on pieces of wood. They are little rubber-type sticky dots. They are also used on the corners of drawers so that when you close them they bump up against the wood instead of wood on wood.

It doesn't damage the tiles or battlemat when removed, stays sticky for ever (meaning you'll not likely need to ever buy another pack) and wads up nicely when done using.

You can even pre-build your tiles (the larger rooms, anyway) and store them away ahead of time--makes for a dramatic reveal when you pull out the finished room, rather than telling everyone to take a potty break whilst you setup the encounter.

I use loops of electrical tape. I've even tested some by leaving it on some cheaper tiles for weeks and it seems to still peel off without problems as long as you do so carefully. I've prebuilt some layouts for oneshots, covering the areas with sections of paper so that things could be revealed as the adventure progressed.

I will def try this! The main thing I would like to do is prepare my tiles ahead of time... and stick them onto the Tact-Tiles.

Great pic! Will try the electrical tape along with the putty and see which one works best for me.

I have a couple of those big mouse mats--the ones that cover the entire centre of your desk. Sometimes you can get CCG play mats that are basically the same thing. They have a fabric top (usually with some pretty graphics); the bottom is a layer of soft black rubber.

I lay them out upside down, then lay out my dungeon tiles on top of them.

Not only does that create a non-slip surface for the tiles, but it also puts them on a black background, which looks more "dungeony" that a faux-beechwood tabletop. . . .

There is a plastic coated fabric for cutting boards and such.

I've heard the the WotC guys use a big sheet of black felt.

This WotC guy uses a tablecloth of black velvet. I got a swath of it pretty cheap at a local craft store. It makes the table look nice, helps make fetching photos of the battlefield, and tile shift is a thing of the past.

The only downside...my cat's love it. I have to make sure to roll it up and put it away directly after the game, or I'm spending a few minutes cleaning it up with a lint roller before the next game.
