D&D 3E/3.5 Thread: 3.5 / talent brainstorm

a buddy of mine has this habit of coming up with crazy ideas.

he was attempting to try to make a universal methodology that would be balenced within the 3.5/modern mechanics...and well ...see for yourself:

Code:
Talent Level 1 Talent Level 2 Talent Level 3 Talent Level 4 FEAT 1 FEAT 2
Roll Di	Self	1/Rnd	ReRoll an Attack or Initiative or Skill or Save. KEEP the 2nd Roll.	Roll Twice and KEEP the BEST	TAKE 10 in combat	TAKE 20 in combat	GIVE to 1 Ally Touch	Close or ADD to 1 Ally Touch
Roll Di	Enemy	1/Rnd	ReRoll an Attack or Initiative or Skill or Save. KEEP the 2nd Roll.	Roll Twice and KEEP the WORST	-5 to Roll -10 to Roll GIVE to 1 Ally Touch	Close or ADD to 1 Enemy Touch
Resist	Self	1/Rnd	Gain Resistance 5 to ONE Energy Type or Poison or DR Type UPGRADE Resist 10 UPGRADE Resist 15	UPGRADE Immune GIVE to 1 Ally Touch	Close or ADD to 1 Ally Touch
Vul	Enemy	1/Rnd	Gain Vulnerability 5 to ONE Energy Type or Poison or DR Type UPGRADE Vul 10 UPGRADE Vul 15 UPGRADE Vul 20 GIVE to 1 Ally Touch	Close or ADD to 1 Enemy Touch
Sub	Self	1/Rnd	Sub a Spfc Skill for Similar Spcfc Skill. Physical or Mental or Social.	Sub Skill for Diff P/M/S Skill	Sub Skill for Save	Sub Skill for Attk	GIVE to 1 Ally Touch	Close or ADD to 1 Ally Touch
Cond	Either	1/Rnd	GIVE Condition. Lasts 1 Round LASTS 1 Rnd/Lvl; SAVE Different SAVE 2 SAVES LASTS 5 Minutes LASTS 1 Hour
Effect	Either	1/Rnd	GIVE Effect. Lasts 1 Round LASTS 1 Rnd/Lvl; SAVE Different SAVE 2 SAVES LASTS 5 Minutes LASTS 1 Hour

in a nutshell, he's trying to redefine the relationship between talents and feats and set it up in a chart for easy extrapolation.

he's also saying how taking a feat changes the nature of the talents.

I get his logic, but it seems off.

how would this system radically change pcs with this mechanic and is it at all to scale with the standard spine?

edit: is there any easy way to post part of an xls file without spending 20 minutes lining stuff up?

yeah...I had the same response to this as well <watches tumbleweed>

I'll try to start it again in a simpler manner.

what is the rough equivalent value (ex +1) is a roll again but must keep the 2nd die roll?
