Three spycraft questions

SteveC

Doing the best imitation of myself
Hi everyone,
We just finished our first spycraft 2.0 combat last Sunday, and our GM had several questions. I'm going to open them up for your consideration:

First, what is the DC to throw a grenade and hit a particular spot. I know the DC in D&D, which is what we ended up using. What's the official rule.

Second for NPCs, what is the "resilience" characteristic?

Finally, one more NPC question, what is the "competence" characteristic (aside from something I'm not rated at very well with 2.0...yet... ;)

Thanks!

Resiliance is the NPCs saving throw bonus--for all saving throws.

Competence might be the same for skills, but I don't remember.

Defence for a square is 15 (page 329). I just got to that bit last night. I'm reading about half an hour a night, and converting my SC1 character.

Cheers,
Liam

Thanks very much. We had a devil of a time finding this in game. You sir, are the man!

Ordinarily, I have a bad memory. But, for some reason, the defense score of a square is the kind of fact that will stick in my brain forever...

Cheers,
Liam

Nerfherder is correct. Def is 15.

Second for NPCs, what is the "resilience" characteristic?

Resiliance is used for all saving throws (except for the damage save on standard NPCs).

Finally, one more NPC question, what is the "competence" characteristic (aside from something I'm not rated at very well with 2.0...yet... ;)

Competence is the generic "skill check bonus" and used for all skill checks in which the character does not have a particular skill. The Skilled NPC quality allows you to purchase skills which represent that character's 'specialty' or areas of expertise.

Hope that helps!

I'm in the middle of scripting an item-by-item set of conversion notes for all the 1.0 material. It's going up in pieces on a new announcement over on the Spycraft boards. It's far from complete, but you might check it out to see if any of your agent's toys have been mentioned yet :).

Thanks so much guys. I have to tell you that I think you have a...heck*...of a good game here. My only concern is the organization. I'm finding it more than a little difficult to find things at the moment. Still, that does not mean that I wouldn't recommend the new edition to just about anyone. You're really outdone yourselves here. I think it was Psion who said this first, but I'd have to call Spycraft 2.0 the first 3rd generation D20/OGL product. I'm really looking forward to see what you can do with it!

* Eric's grandmother alert here...

Cool!

He's only 2nd level, so what I'm doing is creating a new, 2nd level character, in the spirit of the 1.0 version, rather than an exact conversion. Only problem I'm having is getting the rules straight on stun guns (which I've posted in the Rules Clarification thread on the Spycraft boards, page 11 - hint, hint ;))

Cheers,
Liam
