Thri-Kreen for 4th ed: Bring back their thorax and other things

Oh ye of little faith. Here's how I'd do it:

Insect Limbs (thri-kreen racial trait): You have four hands. You can only use two of them at a time; the other two can hold objects but not use them. At the start of each of your turns, choose which two hands you are currently using.

Third Hand Strike (thri-kreen racial encounter power, minor action): Make a basic attack with a weapon or implement held in the hands you are not currently using.

Then throw in some thri-kreen feats that build on the Two-Weapon Fighting feat chain, and maybe a paragon path built around attacking with all four hands at once.

You're probably not ever going to get four attacks a round, every round - though it could be balanced with appropriate to-hit penalties. But multi-limb fighting, sure.
Stolen!!

I like these quite a bit. They are useful and definitely relate to having extra arms, but they seem well-balanced for racial traits. I just might have to introduce some thri-kreen into my campaign now.

Oh I wouldn't expect them to get multi attacks, as that's been done away with, like Two Weapon Fighting I'd expect a damage bonus, or the cool powers folk just posted ;)

Darwinofmind,
ah, but with no stomach...which they obviously lack now, how the hell do they process food, eh? ;)

Hmmm. Tri-Keen would certainly have the best of both worlds, to an extent.

Wielding two handed weapon, a shield, and an implement.

I could even see it assisting with load times of ranged weapons.

Aren't these things just basically Edgar Rice Burrough's green martians ripped off, made a bit more insectile, and stripped of their serial numbers?

I think they should look like TARS TARKAS!

So, Erik, when can we expect to see the Pathfinder treatment of thri-kreen?

If they're trademarked, maybe an original Pathfinder insect race?

*slips Erik a five spot*

2E Dark sun had kreen averaging 11' long and 7 high at the shoulder.

In Soviet 2nd ed Dark Sun, the halflings ate YOU, tovarisch!!! :p

i.e. Well it was Dark Sun, humans could get 20 in stats, half-giants were 10' tall and weighed 1000lbs, so 'kreen being Large wasn't an issue, really.
it was the multiple limbed # of attacks, that were the issue!

Thri-kreenus Quisinarde Frappe' Mantid !
