Throat Slit?

The problem with a CDG, is that it is usually 95% lethal, not mere 'potential'.
Hence the use of the words ‘…at least…’ For me, it is a case of lowest common denominator… I would prefer 95% lethal, rather than 0% lethal… But I guess we are now delving into the realms of personal preferences here…

My point? Once you buy into D&D, you are buying into heroic fantasy paradigms that throw realism out the window.
Never! ;) Achieving realism isn’t the point, striving for it is…

Well, if the demands of the story handle situations like this, rather than the D&D rules, why ask about it on the rules forum? I mean, if lethality was desired, couldn't the DM just wing it, rather than trying to shoehorn the situation into something it's not?
Well I guess you would have to ask Stormborn as the original poster that question… Currently there is nothing in the rules to ‘truly’ cover this situation… And as for just winging it, it just highlights a hole in the rules… Coming up with a suitable rule isn’t always for the DM’s convenience, it’s also about the players’ acceptance…

Then there is the fact. . .

I'm not sure that's the best example. Using real-world examples -- especially ones that are emotionally or politically charged -- might be better off avoided in the interest of a good discussion.

Thanks.
