Thundarr the Barbarian dvd?

Remember Thundarr the Barbarian? It was an early 80's Saturday morning cartoon---very good (at least to my memory). I have searched, but it doesn't seem like an Official dvd has been released (like Blackstar has---a similar show). Does anyone have any leads to an OFFICIAL dvd?

I've never seen one, but when the Blackstarr one was I went on You Tube to check them both out (I was thinking of buying the Blackstarr one); let's just say, I think you might want to do the same before buying a Thundarr disc (if there is such a beast). I'm pretty darn lenient when it comes to animation (I really like animation of all kinds and regularly watch corny old stuff from the 80's) and I had a hard time sitting through either of those shows for even 20 mins.

But YMMV and all that, so maybe try watching them like I did and see what you think.

I don't think it's out on DVD. Usually tvshowsondvd.com has pretty much all the info on whether or not a show is or is not. Not even any news about it.

If they ever did release a DVD, I'd pick it up in a heart beat.

Sure, it's 80's cheese, but it's fun 80's cheese, and a lot of the background art was amazing. When it was playing on CN a few years back, it still held up fairly decently for me. Some sillyness involved due to the BS&P of the time, but not bad. Plus Kirby wrote the series bible. :)

I totally agree with you about Blackstar. I had such fond memories of that as a kid, I pre-ordered the DVD when heard it was being released. It's still sitting on my shelf with half the episodes unwatched (and I had to force myself to sit through the half I did watch). It was interesting to see how much of the show went into the later He-Man series, though.

There was a lot of potential with the show. It would be a pretty good basis for a new series (or live action film). Just get rid of those damn Trobbits.

Thundarr, otoh, still rocks. I got a chance to watch a few episodes again a couple of years ago, and they were still fun. I'd definitely pick up the set if it ever comes out.
