Thunder Cats....HOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Lion-O used the Sword of Omens to (among other things):

- Call the Thundercats for help ("sending" + "inspire courage");
- Gain "sight beyond sight" (as a crystal ball with true seeing);
- Fire energy blasts (as scorching ray);
- Create an effect similar to a "shield" spell when using total defense;

Also, it slashend nearly anything, so I'd say:

Sword of Omens
+5 to hit and damage when wielded by the Leader of the Thundercats;
Wielded as a short sword or bastard sword, as desired, with the appropriate damage;
Once per day can project a signal in the sky that calls the Thundercats to the Leader's aid. Thundercats that comply gain the benefit of "inspire courage" (as the special ability of a 20th level bard).
Can project energy beams (treat as a scorching ray spell cast by a 4th level sorcerer, usable at will)
When the wielder performs a total defense action, he can generate an effect similar to a "shield" spell, which lasts for as long as the wielder keeps up his total defense.
Sword is Lawful Good, Intelligent, and can communicate empathically with its wielder.
If an Evil character tries to wield it, the sword resists (Strength DC 30 to maintain grip on the sword; failure means the sword flies through the air and lands 30 feet away).

Thanks for all the responses guys, I'm gonna do some google research and read through some episodes to try and get the majority to repeated abilities written down.

Yea, when the sword called out to his companions, they definitely received a Morale boost (probably +1 to all rolls).

But, you could be wicked and give the sword some sort of Geas effect on allies to force them into helping your sorry ass. :]

That's probably a bit more evil than you'd want though.

I remember the blade would also light up and "growl' (I think that's what it did) when in a potentially dangerous situation.

Also, it would not allowing Liono to draw it when he was acting rash (which happened to be a number of occasions...)

I see this as a definite sign of intelligence, possibly with clairvoiance abilities only available to the sword itself (maybe 'Sight beyond Sight' is an extension of this???).

Side note:
Given the huge volume of abilities, you could say that it houses the spirit of Thundera (I think they did say that). You could give the blade stats similar to a celetial or elder spirit (only in play mechanics. In the story, the blade IS the spirit of Thundera, and just a sword). It is intelligent and has limited communication with the ruler of thundera.

You could give the blade basic magic weapon stats, and a second set of stats for the blades 'character'(again, only as a game mechanic). When you use the blades abilities, you actually tap into the 'blade characters' own abilities (or the blade will do so itself. This did happen in the cartoon, on occasion...).

Better, you could treat it as an intelligent animated object with character levels in some class (no spell components needed). It DID fight Excalibur on its own, even if it lost.

We all know how creative a 20th level wizard can be with just a few spell. One spell can have many uses, if played right, and it would look like a different effect each time...
