What is missing from this phase is that we got individual films for the first group, so we got more character development for each. So we cared. Plus, their flaws were not so relatable. No one wants to see themselves in these flawed characters.

These characters were introduced in other people's shows or movies. There's also no clearly good guy. People kind of like their heroes to be mostly good guys, outside batman.

The movie has some pacing issues for sure.

You're being way too kind.

If someone's thinking about paying to see it, I'd suggest that unless they love >= 90% of the Marvel Studio movies that aren't part of the Iron Man series or actual Avengers, they may struggle to stay awake.

Put another way, if you're someone who enjoyed Ant Man and the Wasp, Captain America: Brave New World, and the Eternals, you'll probably enjoy Thunderbolts* too.

I find Bob a lot more relatable than a superrich alcoholic playboy.
Absolutely. Bob Reynolds is a wonderful and relatable character and in some ways the moral centre of the film. Yelena’s sense of being lost but trying to be better is very relatable. I think we do want to see ourselves in these flawed characters - that’s what makes them inspiring, and that’s what made Thunderbolts both an excellent film and an excellent addition to the MCU.

Funny. I'm the opposite. I think people want their heroes to be something we aren't, as a group. Relating to these more makes them less like heroes, imo.

We clearly don't agree.
