I'll have to disagree. They are only broken up into levels to try to make them more playable at any level desired.

Ah, OK, what I assume you are implying is that someone would take the LA 0 Tiefling, and Rogue level 1 to start. Then at character level 2, they are forced to take Tiefling Level 1, and therefore have a LA +1 race, without starting everyone else at level 2. After *that*, they can do whatever.

Pity on the poor Minotaur who has to sit through however many levels of racial levels before he's a Fighter 2.

At that point of what you just said it is just a 'class'. How about I take 2 levels of ogre, 3 levels of troll, 2 levels of cloud giant, 4 levels of astral deva.. etc etc. That makes just as much sense

Does not An earlier article in that series has 'Template' classes, so I could *almost* do just that...and looking at the introductory article, it is implied that you do indeed have to take all the racial class levels at once, so our little exercise here is moot

As I said, I don't have Savage Species, so I'm moot as well.

I will pity any minotaur who has to take all of those levels of minotaur (which I dont feel are worth its LA) and then has to take levels of the weakest pc class available.

Talk about a character who has some problems
