Time Zones and the Realms

Hm. Folks that are saying "don't use time zones" are perhaps missing the point. If the planet is round, and spins on it's axis, the DM needs to be able to figure out what the local time is when characters teleport long distances. Whether or not the time zones are "official FR time", they'd be a useful DM tool.

I would follow along the Realms-L FAQ.

975 miles per "time zone" at the equator (1 hour per time zone). Thus, it would be about 731 miles per time zone throughout the Shining South, about 487 miles per time zone through the Heartlands, and finally about 243 miles per time zone in the North near the Spine of the World.

This is far from perfect, of course, but should provide an easy guideline for the DM when the party goes through a gate or teleports to a location (and the DM can slap a ruler on the map and eyeball the distance travelled and thus timezones crossed), using the rule of thumb in the Realms-L FAQ and above.

All canadians know that? Hmm, maybe Quebec should have separated... we sure don't all know that, and don't feel bad about it. :(

At least I understood the french jokes in the Matrix Reloaded.

Oh! We had that problem with FR Time Zones, and we did approximates, using the gray box's map.

Great

Thanks for the replies, It give me allot to think about. I think we will use the World map (time zones) over laid into Realms to get a better understanding of which time zones we are in.

And as always wing it, if we don't have a clue.
