To ALL ENWorlders: Did you play 1E AD&D?

I've played AD&D, D&D, 2ed AD&D and 3.5 D&D. I own a white box set of OD&D but have never played it.

Yes. I still mourn the loss of my duo-tone modules, although not enough to buy the Dungeon Survival Guide and be further tormented by their absence.

Nay. Although I, for various reasons, own quite a few 1e rulebooks, I was actually introduced to the game by 3rd edition. And it wasn't even 3.0--it was 3.5.

I came into the game shortly before 3.5 and never had the desire to play any earlier incarnations.

What do you mean by this? You mean like adding certain spells or monsters from 1e straight to a basic D&D game?

I played every incarnation since I started with the Basic Set in 1980, but I have played more 1e AD&D than any other version.

It really is too bad that I have met some veteran gamers who say that sort of thing and actually mean it (though they leave out the bit acknowledging that without new blood the game they love so much will eventually be dead, of course).

For the most part older gamers have treated me, and the peers I've introduced to the game, rather well, but every once in a while we run into some real jerks. Haven't seen anything like that on ENWorld so far, though. Ye olde fogies here seem quite nice.
