To James Jacobs: A Growing Problem with Dungeon Magazine

I have seen all of the users in this process spending their time on other tasks (like posting on these boards) that IMO would take much more time than developing these pdfs. Just an observation. We're looking at best a half an hour of actual work we're waiting on. I have no complaint about delays related to the writing (inspiration takes time) but as I understand it this is generally not the source of the delay.
I think it would be nice if this messageboard could establish a gentleman's agreement to avoid berating the Dungeon and Dragon staff for going out of their way to participate in a discussion that they have absolutely no obligation to participate in. When they kindly respond to direct or indirect requests for information, it seems...well...awful to turn around and accuse them of shirking their responsibilities, using these responses as evidence.

Just sayin'

I think instead of complaining you posters ought to start putting together your own thread of "alternqative spells, etc.... from other sources".

The Paizo people have made it pretty clear, without blatantly saying it, if you want it faster than they can make time to do it, do it yourselves.

At least with a thread it can be shared for alll the DM's so overwhelmed that can't even take the time to think of alternatives of their own. Plus inspire those who are just in some kind of rut. Or are just looking for "fresh thoughts" on the same "problem".

Plus we would get the best of both worlds. Quick input from the creative minds on this website, and eventually the "professional" stuff from Paizo when they can finally get it done.

Problem solved.

Was there ever a "DMs Only" forum on EnWorld? I know it wouldn't keep people out, but it would let the honest players know not to go there (or maybe it would just tempt them). In this forum, we could post our own conversions.

Maybe make it a Conversions Forum Section, instead. There could be forums for creatures, adventures, move the house rules there, etc.

In the meantime, making a Savage Tides Conversion Adaptations/Mods thread might be a good idea. When I get some time, I will type up some of the minor conversions I made and post them.

OK mods, I know at least one of you is following this thread. So what would be the best way to handle a dedicated thread (forum?) for something like this?

I think step one would be to go open a thread in Meta on the subject, but I could be wrong.

If a mod doesn't answer here in a few hours I will go post in meta. But I know at least Plane Sailing has been looking, so I'll wait and see.

I agree. In fact, I'm pretty sure that it's implicit in the forum rules: keep it civil sort of implies not berating anyone.

To tell the truth, I think the best place to put this would be on the Paizo forums.

Maybe, but how many other ENWorlders are like me and hardly ever go to the Paizo, or even WOTC forums?

So if I am ever to contribute to a "group project" like this, it will be much more likely if it is here on ENWorld, rather than my having to go find it over on the Paizo or WOTC boards.

Now I can see one of the "rules" for it being that if someone wants to copy and post what is put on this forum to a Paizo/WOTC they are free to do so. Probably put a link in the OP to go straight to those forums. Plus vice versa (if WOTC will allow it, does Paizo?)

Then, if posters naturally migrate themselves to the other boards than the forum on this site can die a natural death.

But I dond't see that happening. I don't go to the WOTC boards because of the prevelant "attitude" of those boards. I don't go to the Paizo boards because too many of the WOTC posters with the prevelant "attitude" carry it over to Paizo.

RPGnet is about the worst I want to get. Plus I like that they are willing to talk about any game system. In the same forum. With only a handful coming in "knocking" the thread.

Agreed. I stay away from those boards for the most part due to the high tolerance for threads that disintegrate into pointless ad hominem spitting contests. Although I sometimes find myself on the receiving end of it, I really like the moderation on these boards.
