You really need to take a more active hand in the 4e forum.

I have been trying to check threads because I want to learn something about the new edition.

I'm excited about it.

However, there are many, many posters who come into every 4e thread just to express their hatred of it and to make sure we know, that they will not be buying it.

Every day.

The same posters.

This should not be allowed to continue.

I shouldn't have to slog through 5 posts each by the same 5 posters in every thread.

It's just as rude as threadcrapping anywhere else.

The mods have obviously decided letting the 4e crowd having their say is more important than enforcing the rules.

That was ok with me for the first couple of weeks. Denial, anger, acceptance and all that.

But its been two months now.

If you don't tell us specifically, more often than not, we will not know.

To paraphrase a post I just made in the 4e forum --

I hear you.

But kicking people out of the 3e forums because they don't like the new edition is an extremely slippery slope. What happens when someone who loves the new warlord decides that he doesn't, say, like how initiative works? Do we boot him?

Frankly, I don't see it happening. People are going to sway both ways on the "I like 4e" continuum, both to and fro, and we're not going to kick them just because this week they're less excited about the game. Besides, intolerance goes both ways. Read some of the posts from 4e fans; they're just as rude and dismissive as the worst from people who dislike 4e so far.

We'll certainly boot people who are continually ranting (hi, Razz!), rude, disruptive and insulting. Be sure to report these cases using the "report a post" function at the bottom left of every post. But when you run across people who always seem to annoy you, that's a perfect opportunity for the Ignore feature. Use it, love it, embrace it -- and take responsibility for your own enjoyment of the forum.

Meanwhile, a challenge for everyone: think about what you write. Are you repeating the same old message you always say? If so, then maybe it's not needed. Be courteous of others, and always try to improve the signal-to-noise ratio here instead of decreasing it. Try not to take comments personally, and keep a sense of humor!
