To the Official Folks: How will Wishes affect Feats?

Will a Wish spell grant a Feat to a character?

If the answer is Yes, what are the limitations? As in:

How many Feats can be obtained via the use of a Wish spell per level? (I am expecting Not More Than One, but I must ask)

How many Feats can be obtained via the use of a Wish spell in any given length of time?

Does a supposedly better Feat versus a worse Feat change either of the above?

What is the Official Take on this matter?

After all, one must obey the Rules.
If one does not obey the Rules, the Game loses meaning.
And one must know what the Rules are, if one is to obey them.

Obviously, unless your character is an archmage or archmagistress, it is going to be difficult to obtain the use of Wishes for this purpose ... at least, in my campaign, it would be difficult.

If there is an archmage or archmagistress (a female archmage) he or she is NOT going to be happy dealing with a crowd of adventurers constantly banging at the door, asking for Wishes.
Not even for the enormous sums of money involved, for after all a Wish drains experience points.

Not to mention the minor fact that most archmages and archmagistresses are constantly BUSY on their own projects, and many of these projects are ruined if they are interrupted during the procedure, and so on and on.

Yet the question stands.

I am sure this was done at least partly tongue-in-cheek. Nonetheless, you make a good point (almost) about the rules.

You should know what a rules is, and the intention and purpose of that rule, before you go your own way.

I am certain you will get no "official" ruling here beyond

The character may wish for greater effects than these, but doing so is dangerous. Such a wish gives the opportunity to fulfill the character's request without fulfilling it completely. (The wish may pervert the character's intent into a literal but undesirable fulfillment or only a partial fulfillment.)

As far as advice, that's been covered pretty well in the other thread on this topic, so I'll forgoe giving any here.

From everything I've read and heard the Official word is as follows:

Nothing, zip, zero, nada, nil, etc. I've read nothing on aquireing feats in any other way then gaining levels. Even magical items with feats is very rare.

However, it it makes you feel any better, I allow it. If you want to pay 5000xp for a feat, more power to you.

The official take on the matter is that there is no official take on the matter. Gaining a feat via Wish is not covered in any rulebook published by WotC that I am aware of.


That being said. Why not? If you wanna blow 5000 XP on a feat I certainly wouldnt mind.

Technically, 5000XP is equal to 125,000gp, so that should get you somethin' pretty nice eqivalent to a similarly priced magic item.

5000xp is worth more. If I could exchange that much gold for that much XP, I'd take that exchange rate everytime.

What they said... Except I would not allow it, especially considering the advent of Epic Feats and Epic Levels. Even 5,000 XP eventually becomes a relatively minor cost.

Not in regards to magic item creation. I'm not sayin' it works in reverse. I'm just sayin'.
