“Ladies, gentlemen, and genderless creatures! Prepare for our third quarterfinal match of the CR 7 edition of the Tournament of Champions! This match features the best of the Neutral Good forces against the best of the Neutral Evil forces.”

Making his way into the northern side of the arena, this combatant measures 4 feet tall, 16 feet long, and weighs 320 pounds. He has an impressive record of five wins and one loss in the main battle, including a defeat over Neutral‘s beloved abriomach rilmani. He was finally defeated an ethereal dragon. Hailing from the Heroic Domains of Ysgard and representing the forces of Neutral Good, please welcome the young battle dragon Yunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngellllllllllllllllllllllllllld!”

Yungeld enters to the cheers of the Neutral Good faction of the audience and concentrates. He appears to be a medium-sized dragon, with a dull brown sheen to his scales.

“Now making his way into southern side of the arena, this combatant measures 20 feet long and weighs 6500 pounds. He is winless in the main battle, with a record of zero wins, one loss, and zero draws. He was breathed on by an adult ethereal dragon. Representing the forces of Neutral Evil, please welcome the uobilyth Flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish!

The raucous cheers of the Neutral Evil faction greet Fly Fish as he floats into the arena. Fly Fish looks like a huge, primeval fish, with a bulbous head and a crescent-shaped tail. Three slit-shaped eyes, protected by bony ridges, are set one atop the other in front of its head. Four tentacles extend from its body, which has a pink belly and four pulsating blue-black orifices along its bottom, secreting a gray slime that smells like rancid grease.

Psybo communicates telepathically to the two combatants. “Fly Fish, you have the initiative. Yungeld, you choose the starting positions. Now go at it!”

Yungeld stats:
[sblock]It has 7 ranks in Knowledge (local - somewhere in Ysgard) and 13 ranks in the following skills: Knowledge (geography, history); Listen; Search; Sense Motive; and Spot.

It has the feats Alertness, Blind-fight, Flyby Attack, and Lightning Reflexes.[/sblock]

Fly Fish will start at 20n115e (adjusted for size)
Yungeld will start at 95n0e

Reminder notes for NG
[sblock]
Prot from Evil is already up, two more uses today

Breath Weapon 6d6 (DC18)
BAB/Grapple: +11/+14 (but bound to be lower than that Huge thing)
Move: 40 ft, fly 150ft (poor)
DR 5/magic

Probably want to do as much from the air as possible, using Flyby.

Fly Fish will fishily fly to 60n100e15z and try to convince Yungeld that this just ain't his day.[sblock]Psionic Dominate, use 1 of 3.[/sblock]

Round 1: Yungeld fails the save (14+2 vs. DC 21) and is dominated. However, Yungeld seemingly ignores Fly Fish's commands and denies the one round victory!

Mods:[sblock]That's what I figured - but I don't understand the "why". I didn't think dragons were immune to compulsions, and the effect targets any creature, so I'm at a loss. I don't use the XPH regularly so if it's a psionic thing I'm missing please let me know. [/sblock]

Ugulu[sblock]Psionic dominate targets humanoids. A psion may spend additional power points to augment it so that it affects other types of targets. To target a dragon, you have to spend four additional power points. For creatures that do not use power points, you use their manifester level to determine how much they can augment their powers. The uobylith would need a manifester level of at least 11 to be able to target a dragon. I have no idea what its manifester level is.

If it really targets any creature, I think I know what the answer is, so I will ask Gansk. If I am correct, you will still be in the dark, but there is a good reason for it.[/sblock]Gansk[sblock]I think that you did not roll a saving throw because of protection from evil. Protection from evil does not make a creature immune; it just prevents control by suppressing it. A save should have been rolled, but even if failed, no control should be given.

A similar situation occured with your wizard Zailo in the last campaign. A demon dominated him, but the entire party was protected by protection from evil. It had no effect at the time, but when the party fled and the spell wore off, Zailo started breaking his wands in half.[/sblock]
