Todd McFarlane Productions facing Chapter 11

Yeah I saw that ... I've followed his career since I was about 12yo. I'd hate to see him go out of the comic's business, but then, he really isn't publishing much these days except Spawn, which hasn't been the same since Greg Capullo stepped down as artist (Spawn was always 80% art / 20% story in my mind). Well, then there's that Sam & Twitch title (recently relaunched) but it lost all appeal to me after Bendis left. Bleh.

Bankruptcy doesn't mean McFarlane is packing his :):):):) up just yet though. Afterall, Marvel went through bankruptcy itself, and I'm sure they weren't the only other publisher to do so. Now Marvel's doing quite well for itself. I'm sure the movies based off of its characters have helped a lot in that area. The Spawn movie really blew.

I hope this will cause McFarlane to sell the Miracleman rights or something, so we can finally get some reprints of those babies and a conclusion to the story can be published.

Well, it's not the first time Todd's had legal issues and if he wins through this, I'm sure it won't be the last.

Time for him to start doing some e-bay auctions...

Well, Neil Gaiman already won the Miracleman suit earlier this year. He now
holds the full rights. According to rumours, expect some Miracleman reprints
next summer, followed by the resolution to Gaiman's storyline later in the year,
published under Marvel's Icon line.

Can't say I'm sorry to see this happen to McFarlane. Talk about a huge ego. His crap stinks just like everyone else, he just refuses to admit it. Truthfully, I wouldn't be sorry to see TMP come crashing down around him, and watch him cry. But knowing TM, he'd blame everyone else. Or maybe he could sell one of those baseballs he was buying up that have dropped in value so much.

Great news! I somehow managed to miss this info :P

I don't follow McFarlane's work but, from what I know of him, I'm not surprised he's getting sued. It's funny that he left Marvel because of the way they treat their creators, he's doing the same thing.

I actually know someone who's friends with somebody who worked with McFarlane. She didn't work for him, but works for a company that worked with one of his. According to my friend, he was such a &%$#@ that he made her cry at a meeting. You have to think about how much of a jerk someone is to treat people who aren't even his employees like crap.

Assuming, for sake of discussion, that this story is true, how can readers know the mental stability of the person & the details of the meeting in question? [begin hypothetical example] I have little sympathy for person who breaks into tears when their business claims[or the business claims of a company they represent] trip someones BS detector and that someone verbally confronts them.

Didn't former St. Louis Blues enforcer Tony Twist win a lawsuit against MacFarlane for defamation of (non-existent in my opinion) character?

I mean I don't read Spawn, but how bad was the Tony Twist character that a piece of work like the actual Tony Twist felt maligned? :)
