What is up with the super crazy monster names? I love using your content with my players because they haven't "been there and done that" with all the new monsters but struggle when I have to describe something as a Astheohthje (made up just now by randomly hitting keys) or similar. Are they real world names taken from strange myths, random keyboard typing, or even products of a deranged mind kept lock in a sanitarium?

Some are indeed realworld names from folklore, and some are just oddball names in the D&D tradition, just like "illithid" or the like. I agree that some don't roll off the tongue quite as readily as others!

Patrons definitely get to submit monsters this time around! Would not be a Kobold Press project without some kind of competitive submissions and playtest!

Added to my "remind me" list. I introduced my nine year old nephew to D&D over Christmas and he took to it like a fish to water. The next day he had memorized most of the monsters in the Zub monster book! This could be a great Christmas present!

I actually taught my son to read when he was little because he was fascinated with my 3E Monster Manual. He'd page through it and ask what one monster or the other was. As first I would just tell him, but as he started learning to read, I would make him sound out the creature's name himself.

We spent many happy times together when he was little, flipping through that Monster Manual together, looking at the art, and reading those names

The cover art is amazing. Wolfgang mentioned Ghouls being included in Tome of Beasts 2 on DragonTalk. That’s great news because the completely updated and expanded Empire of the Ghouls campaign setting, players guide, and lairs are available for pre-order now @ Pre-order Empire of the Ghouls: A 5th Edition Campaign vs. the Undead on BackerKit. There are some great deals on the original Tome of Beasts pawns there too.

Probably not; elsewhere Baur said that Kobold will be making no further products for Pathfinder 1e.

I read somewhere that there are no plans for that and that, if they do make any Pathfinder books, they would be for 2E.

Hey there!

No plans at this time for a new Pathfinder monster book, but that doesn't mean there won't be in the future if the demand is there - Pathfinder 2E is still pretty new, after all.

As others have said, if we ever do such a book, it would have to be for Pathfinder 2E.

Man, I am really trying to pause my spending on Kickstarter. But TOB and Creature Codex (along with their lair books and tokens) were GREAT products. SIGH I can't resist. It looks great and given Kobold Press's track record, it will be great.

My only gripe is the name. But I still have my "Tome of Beasts 2: Electric Beastaloo" sticker from the Creature Codex Kickstarter, so I can fix the lackluster title. ;-)

I can't view it from behind my firewall... but is it an undead Ghoul construct?

After seeing the Ghoul Steed, I like to joke that the Ghouls ride the Human Centipede into battle.
