D&D 5E Tome of Beasts 5E

From my understanding the monsters are tougher than MM monsters. How do the monsters stack up to a 3 man party? Are they a bit too tough for such a small group of the same level?

I ran a group of 3 in a session with a "Rotting Wind", and some kind of temple slime thing I can't recall the name of offhand. (I'll laugh if I look it up later and it's "Temple Slime", though.)

I usually run for 5, but we were two short and really jonesing to play. I had planned to have the Rotting Wind backed up by a few skeletons or mummies, but I ran it as a solo creature and it was really fun! With a lot of the core MM creatures, I can't really run them as solo because the action economy just dusts them too quick, but the rotting wind had enough going on that it was a nice centerpiece fight.
