Sheesh! Two pages of guff, when the "answer" was there in black and white:

"You won't find any of the monsters in Tome of Horrors in any other official Wizards of the Coast product!
We worked directly with Wizards of the Coast to make sure that no monster in this book (well, only a handful) would be included in a later Wizards of the Coast product. So, you can rest assured that the contents of this book will not be superceded by any later 'official' book."
pg 3,Tome of Horrors, Scott Greene (Necromancer Games, 2002

Me thinks both WotC AND Necromancer made a mistake, but that last paragraph really rings a little hollow...

How does that quote indicate that Wotc played false? The claim was Necromancer's.

Thanks, that was the quote I recall. On the back cover it doesn't have the "(well, only a handful)" part either IIRC.

Just a little over exuberant advertising.

A nice thing about the overlap - especially with the fiendish lords - is that it gives them a couple of different power levels. With the debate that goes on about how powerful fiends should be, two versions of them is greatly welcomed!

Cheers!
